The rsync daemon as a gateway service?
In rsyncd.conf I'd like to be able to specify something like:
[module1]
gateway 10.168.172.9
or (I think we have to change the protocol a little for this one):
[module2]
redirect datasource.my.domain
I've run into this need a few times, and I think it might be useful
enough to add (both of these) to the daemon configuration. I'm asking
the list to see if either of these might

Survival statistics--displaying multiple plots
Hello all!
I am once again analyzing patient survival data with chronic liver disease.
The severity of the liver disease is given by a number which is continuously
variable. I have referred to this number as "meld"--model for end stage
liver disease--which is the result of a mathematical calculation on
underlying laboratory values. So, for example, I can generate a Kaplan-Meier
plot

Your message Re: Samba and printer comments (July 5 1999)
Yes unfortunately I do not have much luck recieving help from the SAMBA
mailing list.
After much playing I found something weird that was seemingly causing
incorrect comments. Most printers would recieve the comment - "no
entries" which originally I assumed to be the default comment given by
Win95 when it could not get a proper comment. However I later found
that this is not the case.

Two "pre-migration" questions
I have read the migration docs. They seem to relate to migrating from one
imap product to dovecot on the same server. I'm interested in migrating my
Maildir-formatted email from one server to another.
1. Can I tar my ~/mail directory on serverX.com, untar it on a different
physical serverY.com (initially with a different domain name), and still see
my mail when I access imap.serverY.com

Has anyone got this setup running? Can you point me to a HOWTO?
I'm stuck with a problem in "smbldap_tools.pm" when I do any kind of basic

Where are 2 letter language values defined?
I've googled for way too long, where are the 2 letter language values
defined?
I know:
en = English
es = Spanish
fr = French
but what about Croatian, Russian, Serbian, Vulcan, etc?
Is there a list documented for Asterisk or is it "just use the 2 letter
country code Internet TLD?"
Thanks in advance,

1.4 gsm files changed??
I like to use zgsmplay to preview Asterisk's gsm files. Works like a charm in
1.2. But something changed in 1.4- they play at the wrong speed, very slowly.
They sound fine in the normal course of using the Asterisk server.
The file sizes seem wacko. The first example is from 1.2, the second from 1.4:
$ ls -l im-sorry.gsm
-rw-r--r-- 1 1000 1000 1419 Dec 5 2005 im-sorry.gsm
$ ls -l

ssh -Y X-forwarding?
On rare occasions I want to run a remote X command (like 'meld' to
interactively merge changes in files) and normally 'ssh -Y
remote_host' from a terminal in an NX/freenx window that is acting as
my desktop to start and any X program subsequently started would open
in a new window via X-forwarding - at least when the target is a 5.x
host. I don't do it often enough to remember

I got thinking booting off a logical partition might not be allowed, so I
changed the LEAF/Bering logical partition to a primary, hda4. Then I ran
"syslinux d:" from a Win98SE DOS-box to (try to) initialize the
partition's boot record. And added this from a

Installation issue?
Greetings from a noob.
I am having a little difficulty trying out Wine-20050111 on a fully
updated athlon fedora core 2 system and hope other wine users can help.
Review of the wine-users.pdf file included in the wine rpm and scanning
some of the wine-users mailing list archives have not pointed to any
solutions.
I am trying to install Turbotax from a Turbtax distribution CD. (The

wine-20050725 : warcraft 3 cd issue
Hi all,
I just installed wine-20050725 from source, and have a problem with warcraft 3
(patch v1.15). The install runs fine (when mounting the cdrom without the unhide
option), but the game doesn't. Launchin the game with : "wine Warcraft\ III.exe
-opengl" results in a popup message saying "no disc inserted" whereas the disc
is actually in the CDROM drive. I saw a post on

Crash in sieve_extprogram_create() after dovecot/pigeonhole update
Hi all.
My dovecot setup:
pf at vulcan:~ ? dovecot --version
2.3.0 (c8b89eb)
on Arch Linux, x86_64 (full config here: [0])
uses sieve plugin to train rspamd system as described in the wiki [1]. It used
to work fine prior to 2.3.0/0.5.0 update, but now "imap" process crashes when
I move spam letters from the inbox to the junk folder.
I've recompiled both dovecot and pigeonhole

swapping database mid replication
The Xapian documentation talks about a situation where you don't want to
do two database swaps while in the process of replicating. It says...
To confuse the replication system, the following needs to happen:
1. Start with two databases, A and B.
2. Start a replication of database A.
3. While the replication is in progress, swap B in place of A (ie, by
moving the files around, such that B

I've trashed my install
I upgraded from FC2 to FC3 and it broke the sym links to a: and the
cdrom. I couldn't get them back, then I deleted c: and z:, promptly
asking myself "why did you just do that they worked fine" The funny
thing is my /mnt is empty, I can pop a CD in and it finds it but what
did FC3 do with the entries in /mnt?
I looked for the setup tool that I read was in ./tool but can't find
