Hi all I have a remote server (i.e SSH access only) which was incorrectly partitioned and I urgently need to get it up and running. Installation problems with large mirrored drives
I am trying to install CentOS 4.6 to a pair of 750GB hard drives. I can successfully install to either of the drives as a single drive, but when I try to use both drives and mirror the partitions, I start having problems. Anaconda crashes as it is trying to format the drives. This is what I'm trying to create: /dev/md0: 200MB, /boot /dev/md1: 2GB, swap /dev/md2: rest of the

Segmentation fault in 3.63 on 16GB USB
Hi, I bought a 16GB Transcend JetFlash V10 yesterday and am trying to put the fc8 livecd on it (after filling it up with all sorts of other junk :) I've only plugged it into an fc8 machine (from unopened) - nothing else. I also have a Toshiba U3 2GB USB. The OS is fc8 fully updated except the kernel (2.6.23.15-137.fc8) the livecd-iso-to-disk uses the command "syslinux -d syslinux

Booting USBdeviceB [as root} from USBdeviceA:booter ?
My previous question: "can syslinux on a USBstik also boot installations on other USB devices ?" got no proper reply, so I'm now including more background detail. The new problem is that my 32bit partition of ETHOberon, only gives a proper font-size under Debian7:DVDinstaller:rescueMode, since I'm forced to use a laptop, after my previous systems were stolen. Neither gnome nor

Assign external esata drive to KVM
Hello Everyone, I have a CentOS 6.3 host running a few KVMs. One of them is a CentOS 6.3 KVM that I want to use for making backups with BackupPC. What I'm having a problem with is assigning the KVM an external drive. I used to run BackupPC on an Ubuntu box. The backups went to an external eSATA 1.5TB, ext4 format, single partition drive (regular 3.5" in an enclosure). I want to now

vinum drive referenced / disklabel inconsistency
I am trying to setup vinum on a box using 4.8 RELENG_4 (as of about a week ago snapshot). This box was running 4.6 /w vinum on same hard drives for the last 4 months wonderfully... but since it is my current 'scratch/backup' box, I just reinstalled with -STABLE. # uname -a FreeBSD polya.axista.com 4.8-STABLE FreeBSD 4.8-STABLE #22: Tue Jun 24 17:01:07 EDT 2003

Bootable ISO with extra data outside the ISO?
Sorry if this is a total noob question... I've searched the archives and haven't turned up much. Not turning up much on the web in general, either. I'm working on a project and I'd like to create a Linux bootable ISO disc with an extra chunk of data **outside** the ISO space. This chunk of data might be a 10MB tar/zip. The goal would be to boot into Linux in RAM off the disc

Can't boot with a new install
Hi everyone, I just finished installing FreeBSD 6 RELEASE on my Toshiba Tecra A4 laptop and the installation was fine, however, when I rebooted the machine, I don't get the boot loader screen as if the machine can not see my drive! I tried the reinstalling and ensured that I set the slice to be bootable but that didn't change anything. Not sure if this is a common issue with FreeBSD 6 on

strange partitioning problem
Hello listmates, Here's I am, trying to install Centos 6.2 64-bit on a server with 24 TB of disk RAIDed as RAID 6. So I get this 18 TB disk (the RAID is recognized as one disk) where I am trying to put my OS. And I can create a couple of partitions - let us say I defiine a 150 GB swap, a 150 GB "/", a 100 GB "/var". So far so good. Then I try to define the next one, say, a
