How to express the embarrassing fact that ISOLINUX is
not ready for UEFI but isohybrid is ?

syslinux mkisofs hard-disk-boot isohybrid
hello every body,
I'm trying to build an isohybrid image based on syslinux able to boot on
bios and uefi with optical disk or usb key.
I've build a 16Mb hard disk image (core.img) with necessary parts for bios
(legacy bootable partition, protective mbr, gptmbr.bin & syslinux
installation) and for uefi (gpt, esp, /efi/boot/bootx64.efi & syslinux
files).
my hard disk image is ok -

The third boot image is HFS+, not FAT.
I understand this is for pre-EFI Macs.
Try a Debian amd64 ISO, e.g.:

Well, the excursion on CD-DA is off topic and i would
describe many aspects in different terms. Nice to see

My interpretation of Didier's questions is less depth and more
user-friendly practical commands for end-users.

Changes to get CD to boot on EFI System.

I still have it in my mailbox: ADY4UEFI.IMG in ADY4UEFI.ZIP.
The test results are the same as with Didier's partition image.
Wrapped in an ISO and presented as -cdrom it reboots in cycles.
Presented as -hda it boots as naked disk image and as part of
a GPT enhanced ISO 9660.

Linux boot hangs after/during read of initrd.img
Precis: I?m trying to debug a problem with CentOS7 failing to install from an ISO written to a USB pendrive ? anyone got suggestions?
What works ? installing on a modern, ?standard PC?; the pendrive image boots and installs as I expect
What does not work ? same pendrive booting in an ATCA blade. What I?ve tried is?
1. Boot the standard CentOS7 minimal image. This seems to start but then

Well, besides the fact that after loading the kernel and the initram
it didn't started the boot process (don't know why), this is what I
achieved by using a disk image with syslinux.efi... :-)

Boot fails in a VMware player VM - syslinux 6.03
Hi there,
I failed to boot an installer in a VMware player (Version6.0.3
build-1895310)
using syslinux 6.03, be it off an hybrid ISO image and an USB stick.
Booting succeeds if the VM is set to use a BIOS firmware with both media,
but fails using an efi firmware.
Trying to boot off the ISO image I get an error message "The firmware
encountered an unexpected exception"
Trying to

There it says about creating a third El Torito image only for Macs,
since old ones could fail and this could be the problem I'm having.
I've used the --mac option of IsoHybrid and it's demanding
