[PATCH] ia64: Fix shared build
We need to build with -mno-pic to disable all uses of GP, as well as use a custom linker script to avoid collisions between klibc.so's and the executable's segments. [PATCH v3 16/27] compiler: Option to add PROVIDE_HIDDEN replacement for weak symbols
Provide an option to have a PROVIDE_HIDDEN (linker script) entry for each weak symbol. This option solve an error in x86_64 where the linker optimizes pie generate code to be non-pie because --emit-relocs was used instead of -pie (to reduce dynamic relocations). [PATCH 0/5] Various MIPS fixes
Hi, I noticed that klibc started crashing on 64-bit MIPS and in my quest to fix the bug I got a bit carried away and fixed a few other things as well. Here are various miscellaneous MIPS patches, although the first patch is the important one. Thanks, James *** BLURB HERE *** James Cowgill (5): mips64: compile with -mno-abicalls mips: use -Ttext-segment when linking shared library

Need Help! Poor performance about randomForest for large data
Hi, dears, I am processing some data with 60 columns, and 286,730 rows. Most columns are numerical value, and some columns are categorical value. It turns out that: when ntree sets to the default value (500), it says "can not allocate a vector of 1.1 GB size"; And when I set ntree to be a very small number like 10, it will run for hours. I use the (x,y) rather than the (formula, data).

[MC] Target-Independent Small Data Section Handling
Oh, one thing I forgot to mention: ReadOnly objects are also counted as small data globals on PPC (on top of BSS, Data, Common). That's what the r2 base is for (.sdata2, defined to be constant data). 32-bit immediate loads take 2 ops minimum on PPC, so even constant loading benefits from small data. It'd be handy to add a third argument containing what kind would normally be returned:

[lld] RFC: Allow custom sections to be under GNU_RELRO
Peter, Thanks for the great feedback! > The first is the use of a custom suffix, all other linker conventions, that I know of, use prefixes as these are much easier and faster to match against names. > This can be important in large programs compiled -ffunction-sections as there can be millions of sections to match. I understand the reason of having these conventions in linkers. On the

[LLVMdev] [lld] TBSS wrong size
Hi, Yes, ldd is generating wrong tbss size. It is just considering one tbss section and not calculating all sections from all objects. The following example on x86_64 shows the issue: --- t0.c --- #include <stdio.h> extern __thread int t0; extern __thread int t1; extern __thread int t2; extern __thread int t3; __thread int t4; __thread int t5; __thread int t6; __thread int t7; int

[LLVMdev] [lld] TBSS wrong size
Hi, I am tracking some TLS issues with lld and found that it is generating wrong tbss size for case where multiple modules have non initialized threads variables. For instance: -- t0.c -- __thread int x0; __thread int x1; __thread int x2; extern __thread int e0; extern __thread int e1; extern __thread int e2; extern __thread int e3; int foo0 () { return x0; } int main () { return x0; }

[PATCH v3 23/27] x86/modules: Adapt module loading for PIE support

[lld] RFC: Allow custom sections to be under GNU_RELRO
Hey, We would like to propose an idea that would help security harden applications that define custom sections. Motivation and Background In Chromium we have a garbage collector that implements some RTTI machinery in the form of a table. This table is used by the collector to trace and finalize garbage collected objects. We're thinking of using __attribute__((section(...))) so that the table

Thread-local-storage memory layout
Hi I am writing a freestanding statically linked x86_64 kernel. And now I want to load and use thread-local storage. As I have a freestanding binary I can't use libc/Linux kernel thread-local mechanism and need to implement initialization code by myself. I am trying to find a clear explanation of what is the memory layout for x86 TLS but can't find anything useful. Maybe LLVM developers

[LLVMdev] llvm-objdump does not give information about all relocations
Hi, We are trying to use LLVM API to programmatically obtain a list of relocations in an ELF file. The way we are doing this is exactly as llvm-objdump does it: we are iterating through sections and in each section we are iterating over relocations (see PrintRelocations() function at https://llvm.org/svn/llvm-project/llvm/trunk/tools/llvm-objdump/llvm-objdump.cpp). However, it does not give us

Reducing code size of Position Independent Executables (PIE) by shrinking the size of dynamic relocations section
Sri and I have been working on this over the past few months, and we've made some good progress that we'd like to share and get feedback on. Our work is based on the 'experimental-relr' prototype from Cary that is available at 'users/ccoutant/experimental-relr' branch in the binutils repository [1], and was described earlier in this thread:
