wma8 decodings
Monty wanted some samples with which to compare Vorbis and WMA, and he
doesn't have a Win32 machine, so I made some.
Microsoft has made their own demo samples available at:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/en/WM8/audio.asp
I took their original .wav's, and encoded them with their wma8 encoder
utility (WM8EUTIL.EXE), using all of the available stereo modes at
44.1kHz. This

Monitor Blanking
Hi to everyone.
I would like to control the timing of the automatic blanking of the
monitor
(occurs within few minutes of inactivity). I have been unable to find

Can someone help me?
Thanks in advance.

Screen blanking crashes
Hi,
I upgraded a Dell C521 from Ubuntu 6.04 to CentOS5.1. The Dell has
an NVidia 6150 analog video card. The screen is an LG1952Tx.
After the screen blanking goes on, and the screen goes to sleep,
the screen goes black except for a blue note saying: analog video,
invalid frequency...
I have installed the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.19-pkg1. Everything
works great except for the screen sleep...

Screen blanking
I have a couple of LCD monitors attached to Centos servers, I would like to
be able to watch the logs on the monitors but after a while they go blank.
How can I disable this?

disabling console blanking ?
Hi!
Some of my centos's servers (poweredge 850/ centos 4.3) are crashing for
any reason, and so i wanna get screen (kernel) output afterward. Problem
is when the server is crashed and the screen blanked, a keypress
doesn't do anything at all.
Here it is what i've tried _from a ssh session_ :
- setterm -blank 0 and many combinations.
- "noacpi" boot option ...
Any ideas ?

Screensaver (or screen blanking) at login screen - CentOS 5.2 or 5.3
Hey guys,
I've done a ton of googling, searching and asking in the forums, etc, and I haven't found a way to do this... :)
I'm trying to find a way of having some type of screen saver at the login screen so that if I leave a machine not logged into, it won't burn-in the screen.
Does anyone know of a way to achieve this? In specific, I'd love to have it simply blank the

Centos7 - Terminal not blanking
Folks
Apparently "new" in Centos 7 is that the terminal screen does not
blank after a period of time. This is a server configuration, and no
GUI is involved. Is there some magic setting I need to tweek?
Thanks in advance

problem with non-focused fxruby gui freezing or blanking out.
I find that when a running fxruby program looses focus or another window is
placed in front of it, when the fxruby window regains focus, many times the
gui is now frozen or blank.
This seems to happen especially frequently when the window covering it is a
java or fox based application.
Usually it comes back but sometimes it takes several minutes to do so.
I would really like to find someway

Strange screen-blanking problem
My desktop at work is CentOS 3.8, using the motherboard's onboard
Intel 865 (82865G) graphics controller. Most of the day today I've
been having sporadic instances where the screen simply goes black for
about 2 seconds. It has nothing to do with whether I'm using the
mouse or keyboard (or not) and the delay before it comes back on is
not correlated to whether I *continue* to use the
