XDC 2020 feedback and comments
Hi all, Huge thanks again to the entire team from Intel, for their great work organizing XDC 2020, our first virtual conference! As usual we're looking for feedback on both XDC itself, and the CFP process and program selection. Both about what was great and should be kept for next year's edition, and where there's room for improvement. The board does keep some notes, for those

[XDC 2020] Virtual conference + Call for Proposals extended 2 weeks more
Hi, In the last meeting, X.Org Foundation board has decided that XDC 2020 will be a virtual conference, given the uncertain COVID-19 situation in Europe by September, including the possibility of a second wave, outbreaks and travel restrictions, either in Poland or in other countries. XDC 2020 organization team agrees on this decision and it volunteered to organize our first virtual XDC! We

PDC and BDC: how to sync profiles
I was wondering how people sync the roaming profiles in an environment with a PDC and multiple BDCs. Are profiles better stored in another server (a member server) instead of the xDC? I could use rsync from the PDC to the BDC, but that doesn't work the other way around, i.e., when a user logs in via a BDC whatever changes they make won't go back to the PDC. Unless the profile is: - always

From what they said, they never really cared about nvidia because nvidia provides a binary driver that works, unlike intel

NVIDIA Falcon Microprocessor Security
Hi, all. Below is a link to a brief document describing some changes in NVIDIA Falcon processors ("fuc", in Nouveau-speak, IIUC) that happened in Maxwell: certain aspects of the chip will only be available to Falcon firmware images signed by NVIDIA. So far, the set of restricted things is pretty small, but I expect this list will slowly grow over future hardware generations.

NV_PMC_BOOT_0 architecture field
Hi Ben, At XDC you asked about the architecture field in NV_PMC_BOOT_0, and how to correctly determine the GPU architecture. It looks like Nouveau is getting the architecture from bits 20-27 in NV_PMC_BOOT_0 (though masking off bits 20-23). For >= NV10, the architecture field in NV_PMC_BOOT_0 is bits 24-28. E.g., the GK2xx architecture has architecture value 0x10, while GK11x has value 0xF

Free Persian Asterisk Book and COVID-19 Pandemic
In the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, Nasim Telecom decided to publish the first six-captures of Persian Asterisk book that was written by me and Mr Najafi, published in 2017. Also it was introduced by Mr. David Duffett in AstriCon 2017 on Florida. It would be useful for all people which understand Persian language, Also all other people could use it by going code commands on it and examples.

Switch roles of PDC and BDC machines?
I've got two sites that I am planning a Samba3/LDAP implementation on, each will have its own local server. The problem is that I want to implement in my local office first, which is not the site that eventually will be the 'master' site. Sometime later when the proper master site comes online, I'd like to demote for lack of a better term, my local machine to a BDC and then

hivex: some issues (key encoding, ...) and suggested fixes
Hi, libhivex seems to do a great job at parsing hives most of the time, but there are some issues with a few registry keys. These can be worked around in the application that uses libhivex, but I think it'd be better if libhivex handled these itself. 1. UTF16 string in REG_SZ that has garbage after the \0\0 There is code in hivex.c to handle this already but I think it has a typo: /*

FOSDEM16: Graphics DevRoom: call for speakers.
Hi, At FOSDEM on sunday 31st of january 2016, there will be another graphics DevRoom. URL: https://fosdem.org/2016/ At first, I wanted to skip another year (like in 2011), as speaker turn-out was disgracefully low last year. But when i heard from some usual speaker suspects earlier this month (the first time anyone asked me about a FOSDEM16 devroom btw), followed by the fact that the devroom

Hi, At FOSDEM on saturday the 3rd of february 2018, there will be another graphics DevRoom. URL: https://fosdem.org/2018/ The focus of this DevRoom is of course the same as the previous editions, namely: * Graphics drivers: from display to media to 3d drivers, both in kernel or userspace. Be it part of DRM, KMS, (direct)FB, V4L, Xorg, Mesa... * Input drivers: kernel and userspace. * Windowing
