vp3 hang on mplayer exit (for GT240 videocard) - workaround found?
Apparently, this hang can be fixed at small performance cost by setting
NOUVEAU_VP3_DEBUG_FENCE 1 (as opposed to default 0)
in https://cgit.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/tree/src/gallium/drivers/nouveau/nouveau_vp3_video.h
Now, what exactly fixes my hangs (or make them less severe) - still open question,
guess I can flip few of those debug defines and try to find out ...

Mplayer and VDPAU
Does anyone here know if the mplayer from rpmfusion
(mplayer-1.0-0.41.svn20090711.el5.rf) was compiled with VDPAU support?
I've looked on the mplayer web site and it says you can use vdpau, but it
doesn't say HOW. Would that be with something like "-vo vdpau" ??
Thanks!

Is binary firmware still necessary for GTX660 card (NVE0 family) in order to use DRM and/or VDPAU video acceleration?
Hi,
just a note for everybody who stumble across this thread in the future in
order to bring this thread to a proper end.
If I run the kernel with
nouveau.debug="PVP=debug,PBSP=debug,PPPP=debug"
I see messages about the firmware files gettings loaded. If the firmware files are
missing, I get some warnings/errors. So far everything works as expected.
But if I invoke

You can try playing with pstate in /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/pstate

VDPAU DEINTERLACE
Mesa only supports the non-spatial temporal deinterlace (deint=3). I'm
guessing that due to some unfortunate issues, you're no longer getting
hw accelerated video decoding. Check in vdpauinfo to make sure that
it's indeed showing the relevant codec as supported. If not, you can
turn that back on by updating to mesa 11.2.2, or downgrading your
kernel to 4.2 or earlier. (The issue only

Is binary firmware still necessary for GTX660 card (NVE0 family) in order to use DRM and/or VDPAU video acceleration?
Hello,
I run the Gentoo Linux distribution and use a self-compiled Linux 3.10.17
kernel. According to
[1] http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/InstallDRM/
[2] http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/VideoAcceleration/
I need the original firmware from the binary driver in order to sucessully
use DRM and to use VDPAU video acceleration. I used the python script from
[2] and I had a look at the ebuild

VDPAU issues in 17.2 and master, and a test request
Hi guys,
I just wanted to record some of my observations with nouveau; I
haven't had time to debug what happened. All testing done with mplayer
-vo vdpau.
First off, it seems like master + DRI3 works, up to a point, but then
crashes in nouveau pushbuf logic with a missing kref (which means some
unknown buffer is being used ... somewhere).
Now, in 17.2-rcN (sorry, I forget which one, but

mesa vdpau regression with "dri2: Fix potential race and crash for swap at next vblank."
Hey Mario,
It seems that your ddx commit b4231dd715a8 is causing a regression when I use mplayer -vo vdpau rendering with mesa 9.1.
It fails to start drawing here, leaving the mplayer screen black, I can make it recover usually by seeking or moving another
window in front. When I revert the commit it behaves normally. Changing can_sync_to_vblank(draw) to 0 in
nouveau_dri2_schedule_swap also fixes
