[PATCH RFC] drm: Add update_native_mode callback to connectors
When reading EDID from firmware file, the nouveau driver can not setup it's native_mode like when reading EDID from hardware. Add this callback to allow driver to update their native_mode. Signed-off-by: Alexander Stein <alexanders83 at web.de> --- This might be a fast forward hack. I'm wondering if there is a better way to achieve the same. The actual problem is that

[PATCH 1/4] drm/nouveau: dispnv50: Don't create MSTMs for eDP connectors
On the ThinkPad P71, we have one eDP connector exposed along with 5 DP connectors, resulting in a total of 11 TMDS encoders. Since the GPU on this system is also capable of MST, we create an additional 4 fake MST encoders for each DP port. Unfortunately, we also do this for the eDP port as well, resulting in: 1 eDP port: +1 TMDS encoder +4 DPMST encoders 5 DP ports: +2 TMDS

[PATCH 00/20] drm/atomic: Provide default ->best_encoder() behavior
Hello, This patch series aims at replacing all dummy ->best_encoder() implementations where we have a 1:1 relationship between encoders and connectors. The core already provides the drm_atomic_helper_best_encoder() function which is taking the first encoder attached to the connector (after making sure only one encoder was attached to the connector), but it's not automatically used, and

[PATCH RESEND v3 0/5] drm/dp_mst: Improve VCPI helpers, use in nouveau
[sorry about the resend-copy pasted the wrong header and I want to make sure this doesn't get missed!] This patchset does some cleaning up of the atomic VCPI helpers for MST, and converts nouveau over to using them. I would have included amdgpu in this patch as well, but at the moment moving them over to the atomic helpers is nontrivial. Cc: Daniel Vetter <daniel at ffwll.ch> Lyude

[PATCH v2] drm/connector: Allow max possible encoders to attach to a connector
From: Dhinakaran Pandiyan <dhinakaran.pandiyan at intel.com> Currently we restrict the number of encoders that can be linked to a connector to 3, increase it to match the maximum number of encoders that can be initialized(32). To more effiently do that lets switch from an array of encoder ids to bitmask. Also removing the best_encoder hook from the drivers that only have one encoder per

[PATCH 0/3] MST BPC fixes for nouveau
Realized when I moved nouveau over to using the atomic DP MST VCPI helpers that I forgot to ensure that we clamp the BPC to 8 to make us less likely to run out of bandwidth on a topology when enabling multiple displays that support >8 BPC - something we want to do until we have support for dynamically selecting the bpc based on the topology's available bandwidth, since userspace isn't

I ended up needing to make a lot of changes to make it so we do actually kref() each port in the atomic state] Cc: Daniel

[PATCH 2/2] drm/probe_helper: Add drm_helper_probe_single_connector_modes_with_rpm()
For nouveau, while the GPU is guaranteed to be on when a hotplug has been received, the same assertion does not hold true if a connector probe has been started by userspace without having had received a sysfs event. So ensure that any connector probing keeps the GPU alive for the duration of the probe by introducing drm_helper_probe_single_connector_modes_with_rpm(). It's the same as

[PATCH v2 0/5] drm/nouveau: DP interlace fixes
Currently, nouveau doesn't actually bother to try probing whether or not it can actually handle interlaced modes over DisplayPort. As a result, on volta and later we'll end up trying to set an interlaced mode even when it's not supported and cause the front end for the display engine to hang. So, let's teach nouveau to reject interlaced modes on hardware that can't actually

[PATCH v3 00/16] MST refcounting/atomic helpers cleanup
This is the series I've been working on for a while now to get all of the atomic DRM drivers in the tree to use the atomic MST helpers, and to make the atomic MST helpers actually idempotent. Turns out it's a lot more difficult to do that without also fixing how port and branch device refcounting works so that it actually makes sense, since the current upstream implementation requires a
