hmm cleanups, v2
Hi Jérôme, Ben, Felix and Jason, below is a series against the hmm tree which cleans up various minor bits and allows HMM_MIRROR to be built on all architectures. [PATCH v2 0/7] mm/hmm: more HMM clean up
Here are seven more patches for things I found to clean up. This was based on top of Christoph's seven patches: "hmm_range_fault related fixes and legacy API removal v3". I assume this will go into Jason's tree since there will likely be more HMM changes in this cycle. Changes from v1 to v2: Added AMD GPU to hmm_update removal. Added 2 patches from Christoph. Added 2 patches as

[PATCH hmm 0/5] Adjust hmm_range_fault() API
From: Jason Gunthorpe <jgg at mellanox.com> The API is a bit complicated for the uses we actually have, and disucssions for simplifying have come up a number of times. This small series removes the customizable pfn format and simplifies the return code of hmm_range_fault() All the drivers are adjusted to process in the simplified format. I would appreciated tested-by's for the two

ensure device private pages have an owner v2
When acting on device private mappings a driver needs to know if the device (or other entity in case of kvmppc) actually owns this private mapping. This series adds an owner field and converts the migrate_vma code over to check it. I looked into doing the same for hmm_range_fault, but as far as I can tell that code has never been wired up to actually work for device private memory, so instead of

dev_pagemap related cleanups v4
Hi Dan, Jérôme and Jason, below is a series that cleans up the dev_pagemap interface so that it is more easily usable, which removes the need to wrap it in hmm and thus allowing to kill a lot of code Note: this series is on top of Linux 5.2-rc6 and has some minor conflicts with the hmm tree that are easy to resolve. hmm_range_fault related fixes and legacy API removal v3
Hi Jérôme, Ben and Jason, below is a series against the hmm tree which fixes up the mmap_sem locking in nouveau and while at it also removes leftover legacy HMM APIs only used by nouveau. The first 4 patches are a bug fix for nouveau, which I suspect should go into this merge window even if the code is marked as staging, just to avoid people copying the breakage. Changes since v2: - new patch

This is not actually true. OpenCL 2.x does support SVM with nouveau and device private

[PATCH 0/4] HMM tests and minor fixes
These changes are based on Jason's latest hmm branch. Patch 1 was previously posted here [1] but was dropped from the orginal series. Hopefully, the tests will reduce concerns about edge conditions. I'm sure more tests could be usefully added but I thought this was a good starting point. [1] https://lore.kernel.org/linux-mm/20190726005650.2566-6-rcampbell at nvidia.com/ Ralph Campbell

[PATCH hmm v3 00/14] Consolidate the mmu notifier interval_tree and locking
From: Jason Gunthorpe <jgg at mellanox.com> 8 of the mmu_notifier using drivers (i915_gem, radeon_mn, umem_odp, hfi1, scif_dma, vhost, gntdev, hmm) drivers are using a common pattern where they only use invalidate_range_start/end and immediately check the invalidating range against some driver data structure to tell if the driver is interested. Half of them use an interval_tree, the others

[PATCH 07/13] mm: remove the page_shift member from struct hmm_range
All users pass PAGE_SIZE here, and if we wanted to support single entries for huge pages we should really just add a HMM_FAULT_HUGEPAGE flag instead that uses the huge page size instead of having the caller calculate that size once, just for the hmm code to verify it. [PATCH v2 0/5] mm/hmm/nouveau: add PMD system memory mapping
The goal for this series is to introduce the hmm_range_fault() output array flags HMM_PFN_PMD and HMM_PFN_PUD. This allows a device driver to know that a given 4K PFN is actually mapped by the CPU using either a PMD sized or PUD sized CPU page table entry and therefore the device driver can safely map system memory using larger device MMU PTEs. The series is based on 5.8.0-rc3 and is intended for
