General comment s on Wine/WineTools - how does a new user setup Wine the very first time?
Hi, I've been messing with Wine and WineTools off and on for a couple of days now. In general I can certainly see the bright future out there, but so far it eludes me. I've used various versions of Wine successfully before, but with recent Wine I'm having little luck. I'm on an FC2 machine with a custom kernel but can switch to Gentoo if required. I've tried both

[Fwd: Re: Execution of WineTools with Wine version 20041201 on RedHat 9]
Joachim, apologies again for bothering you, but after I sent the email below, I managed to link Xdialog in /usr/bin to /usr/local/Winetools to get Winetools to work (I'm still getting used to the 'peculiarities' of linux!). I went through the Base Setup procedure as advised, and it seemed to work 'mostly OK', but I think there is a problem with my glibc as you advised - a

Compiling on AMD64: errors
I'm trying to compile ver 20041019 (older ver for winetools) on my x86_64 Fedora Core 3. ./configure works fine, and so does make depend, but when it comes down to actually compiling, it has a hard time locating the right libs to link against. ../../../tools/winegcc/winegcc -B../../../tools/winebuild -shared ./winearts.drv.spec arts.o audio.o winearts.drv.dbg.o -o winearts.drv.so

Baldur's Gate 2 randomly crashes ("Runtime error") with Wine-20041201
Hi there, I've recently compiled Wine-20041201 and I'm trying to get Baldur's Gate II running. The installation sequence is fine, so is the main menu, character creation etc. The problem is, once inside the actual game, the application randomly crashes giving me: Runtime error c:\bg2\BGMain.exe abnormal program termination This happens often enough to render the gameplay quite

Program requires NVIDIA driver
Hi all, I've installed a program requiring the use of NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 Model 64/Model 64 Pro Display Driver. In spite of that, WineTools 2.0.8 and wine-20041201 did a great job in fully installing the program without pain, However, one critical component of the program needs the original NVIDIA driver so badly. How can I specify this driver in wine and/or Wintools, or elsewhere, when I have

Wine broken after upgrade
Previously, I had installed wine-20040615 via RPM for RH9, and some applications began working that had failed in the past. Yesterday, I downloaded wine-20041019-1rh9winehq.i686.rpm, That, in it self, was a chore, as the mirror sites in the US did not appear to have this rpm. Then, I switched to Germany. I don't know why I picked that mirror. At any rate, once downloaded, I removed

Cannot compile wine fully
Hi! For a longer time, I cannot build all the support suite of wine programs, especially winehelp and winetest. It seems that there is some problem with perl: winetest.c: In function `xs_init': winetest.c:158: `my_perl' undeclared (first use in this function) winetest.c:158: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once winetest.c:158: for each function it appears in.)

cannot build/install
I am trying for the first time to get wine to build on my FreeBSD machine. I have XFree86 4 and FBSD 4.7, I tried building from source, using the sequence: ./configure make depend make install and also, using the ./tools/wineinstall script. Both of them produce the following error: -- cd `dirname avifil32/__install__` && make install ../../tools/mkinstalldirs /usr/local/lib/wine
