ssh
Hello! I would really appreciate any hints
to a little puzzle that has been gnawing at me
about remote sessions with ssh...
(and likely all connectivity programs...)
Because network connections can only talk in
ASCII, there is no way to tell the difference
between TAB and "Ctrl-i" (i.e. pressing Ctrl and i keys
together). BOTH are transmitted as same ASCII
code. Likewise, Ctrl-m and

problem
I almost have this.
I have read the docs, I have read this, I have purchased both books from the
samba team, and I cannot find any help from any of these.
We are trying to migrate from OLDDOMAIN (an NT4 Domain) to NEWDOMAIN (our
Win2k3 Domain). I have a two way trust right now between the domains. I have

DC Replication issue
Hello all. I have successfully joined a Samba 4 DC running RHEL6 to an existing Windows AD DC running on 2008 R2, with the exception that users created via the samba-tool are not replicating to the Windows AD DC. Replication is working from Windows to Samba. I'm sure this is probably an issue on the Windows side of the house, but I cannot find any errors in the logs. Has anyone else run

Single Sign On
We have a network of PCs running XP and servers running Win 2k and Win 2003. User Account management is done with Active Directory (AD). We want to add some Sun Solaris computers to this network. One of the network guys said that Samba could be used as a single sign on solution for a network of Windows and Solaris computers. He said that Samba 3.x provided the capability to use Active

OpenFile, ReadFile & int 13h
Hello,
I have a problem with a comboot 16 bits program for syslinux, I use the
API openFile, ReadFile and CloseFile for read my own config file. It's ok.
I use the int13h to write a floppy disk (syslinux runs on a USB stick),
after the first call to int13h, all the call to openFile return an error.
Do you know what's the problem? Is it possible to use int13h when we use
syslinux API?

stepAICc
Dear R users,
Would it be difficult to change the code of stepAIC (from the MASS
library) to use AICc instead of AIC?
It would be great to know of someone has tried this already.
Best wishes
Christoph.

Hierarchical factors
Hello,
Hierarchical factors are a very common data structure. For instance, one
might have municipalities within states within countries within
continents. Other examples include occupational codes, biological
species, software types (R within statistical software within analytical
software), etc.
Such data structures commonly use hierarchical coding systems. For
example, the 2007 North

efficiency and "forcing" questions
Dear R listers --
The program below does the following tasks:
1. It creates a file (wintemp4) that is a subset of alldata4 consisting of
"winner" records in 50 industry groups (about 5400 obs);
2. It defines a function (myppr1) that runs the ppr function in modreg
once to generate goodness of fit (sum of squared errors) measures by number
of terms included in model and then reruns

Seems to be a mismatch between the Net-SNMP package and your current compiler:
configure:7857: checking for Net-SNMP version via net-snmp-config
configure:7863: result: 5.6.1.1 found
configure:7866: checking for Net-SNMP cflags

documentation on installing dvd2 in 6.3 x64 release?
Hello -
I've searched the CentOS 6.3 wiki docs (Help, Tips and Tricks, HowTo, FAQ, and website search) on how to install the dvd2.iso image on an x86-64 machine and can't find any info and the documentation is not yet posted for CentOS 6.x. When the dvd1.iso for 6.3 x86_64 installs, it does not prompt to install dvd2.iso.
Please provide a URL which describes how to install the

PAM keyboard-interactive
The following patch (relative to -current) makes PAM a proper
kbd-interactive citizen. There are a few limitations (grep for todo), but
the code seems to work OK for protocols 1 & 2 with and without privsep.
Please have a play!
auth2-pam.c is based on code from FreeBSD.

CentOS 7, 327 kernel still crashing
I've just added the following to the CentOS bugtracker for CentOS-7
0009860. I admit to not being sure if it's the same issue, or a separate
one, but this and other Dell servers - I *think* they're all R420's, but I
could be wrong, just all do the same thing on boot.

I've just updated a CentOS 7 server to the latest kernel,
