Chipset & Family
Hello poma,
The chipset didn't disappear and is still displayed: it is the G98 you get on the "[ 2.483843] nouveau 0000:02:00.0: NVIDIA G98 (098200a2)" line. The "NV98" was the "Nouveau" chipset, but the switch was made to use the same naming as NVIDIA. So rather than displaying both the Nouveau version of the chipset and the NVIDIA one, it make sense to only

Odd text behavior on Websites and others
Online, just now noticed some websites are coming up ok, but then
characters rapidly begin to disappear or get replaced by wrong
characters.
If I click on any words in this post several times, the missing
characters "Kr" intermittently appear in the example above and
disappear
in this sentence. Also just noticed that same behavior occurs when I
move the mouse in and out of the text

CentOS v4.5 and Intel 965/G33BY chipsets - PATA support
Greetings CentOS users,
I have run into a hardware issue with the Intel 965 chipset. It appears
that the latest kernel doesn't support the Marvell PATA controller. I can
kickstart the computer, but after the OS is installed the DVD drive can't
be accessed.
There are patches against 2.6.18 for the Marvell PATA controller here:

Intel 3000 and 5000 chipsets?
Greetings. HP claims RHEL 4 supports their servers with the Intel 3000
and 5000 chipsets. Has anyone had any trouble/success building machines
that use this?
For example, CentOS 4.4 on

chipsets etc to avoid for CentOS 6.x
It's time to purchase hardware again, and I'm going through
the usual "of that which is on the market, what will CentOS run
without leaving new hardware collecting dust for a year"?
I'm looking at a number of commodity-grade machines (ie:
desktop grade will suffice) with reasonably fast CPUs and
able to use at least 8GB each (preferably 32GB). These will

NVIDIA dropping support for older hardware (G8xxx, G9xxx and GT2xx chipsets)
Hi all,
I just wanted to give a heads up to any NVIDIA users that NVIDIA are
dropping support for older hardware based on G8xxx, G9xxx and GT2xx
chipsets in their latest display drivers. The last version to support
these older chipsets will be the current Long Lived 340.xx branch.
If anyone is using NVIDIA driver packages from elrepo, legacy 340.xx
driver packages are now available for those
