This is the latest version of https://patchwork.freedesktop.org/series/46815/ I moved everything out of fb_helper and back into nouveau, because it seems that other drivers actually do have this handled already as far as I can tell. After a full device powerdown via the optimus power switch, we seem to lose the HDMI device completely on power on, this keep track of whether we had a hdmi audio sub function device at power on, and pokes a magic register to make it reappear after the optimus power switch is thrown. This at least works on my NVC4 machine, probably needs testing on a few other laptops with other nvidia GPUs.

This doesn't do anything, drm_kms_helper_poll_enable() gets called in nouveau_pmops_resume()->nouveau_display_resume()->nouveau_display_init() already. Fix Thunderbolt-related issues in apple-gmux and vga_switcheroo: Patch [1/5] ("Recognize Thunderbolt devices") has already been subjected to a fair amount of scrutiny over at linux-pci@, I've submitted it 5 times total since May 2016. With luck it may be in ack-able shape now. Patch [2/5] amends apple-gmux to handle combined DP/Thunderbolt ports properly on newer MacBook Pros.
