Note that I only patched the line "NV_DEVICE_INFO_V0_PASCAL", not any other

Ok tested again with the 4 patches from the kernel git I confirm that it works.
Definitely the "case NV_DEVICE_INFO_V0_PASCAL:" line has to be added.

On KDE Plasma, at least I can use the operating system as normal, but with
gnome 3 it's a nightmare, the mouse and user interface is so sluggish that it's
impractical to use.

I believe that the backlight is just not hooked up for Pascal.
There's a patch in bug #100446
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/attachment.cgi?id=138646) which may address this.

Duplicate column names created by base::merge() when by.x has the same name as a column in y
Hi all,
For the record this approach isnt 100% backwards compatible, because
names(mergeddf) will e incompatibly different. Thatx why i claimed
bakcwards compatable-ish
That said its still worth considering imho because of the reasons stated
(and honestly one particular simple reading of the docs might suggest that
this was thr intended behavior all along). Im not a member of Rcore through

Duplicate column names created by base::merge() when by.x has the same name as a column in y
Thanks Martin!
Can you clarify the functionality of the 'no.dups' argument so I can change
my patch to `data.table:::merge.data.table` accordingly?
- When `no.dups=TRUE` will the suffix to the by.x column name? Or will it
take the functionality of the second functionality where only the column in
y has the suffix added?
- When `no.dups=FALSE` will the output be the same as it currently

Brightness readings for part of an image
Hi R users,
I am doing some image analysis and I'd like to know if anyone knows of:
1. a way to specify a rectangle (using xy coordinates) within an image to
have R evaluate using xy pixel coordinates and
2. a way to get brightness readings for that part of the image.
If there's some way to crop the image using 2x2 xy coordinates, for instance
in the EBImage package, that would work
