[PATCH 0/7] Modernize vga_switcheroo by using device link for HDA
Modernize vga_switcheroo by using a "device link" to enforce a runtime PM dependency from an HDA controller to the GPU it's integrated into. Remove thereby obsoleted code and fix a bunch of bugs. Device links were introduced in v4.10. Users might see a small power saving if the discrete GPU is in use and its HDA controller is not, because the HDA controller is now allowed to runtime

[PATCH v5] vga_switcheroo: Add helper for deferred probing
So far we've got one condition when DRM drivers need to defer probing on a dual GPU system and it's coded separately into each of the relevant drivers. As suggested by Daniel Vetter, deduplicate that code in the drivers and move it to a new vga_switcheroo helper. This yields better encapsulation of concepts and lets us add further checks in a central place. (The existing check pertains to

[PATCH 0/5] Add the pci_get_base_class() helper and use it
From: Sui Jingfeng <suijingfeng at loongson.cn> There is no function that can be used to get all PCI(e) devices in a system by matching against its the PCI base class code only, while keep the sub-class code and the programming interface ignored. Therefore, add the pci_get_base_class() function to suit the need. For example, if an application want to process all PCI(e) display devices in a

[PATCH 5/7] vga_switcheroo: Use device link for HDA controller
Back in 2013, runtime PM for GPUs with integrated HDA controller was introduced with commits 0d69704ae348 ("gpu/vga_switcheroo: add driver control power feature. (v3)") and 246efa4a072f ("snd/hda: add runtime suspend/resume on optimus support (v4)"). Briefly, the idea was that the HDA controller is forced on and off in unison with the GPU. The original code is mostly still in

[PATCH v2 0/7] Modernize vga_switcheroo by using device link for HDA
Hi Lukas, Sorry for the delay, I finally found some time to reviewd and test the patches and found some issues (some of them might already be present in v4.15 without your patches though, I did not try). Test environment: - Branch switcheroo_devlink_v2 (commit v4.15-20-gb33d50c5c6ad) - Laptop: Clevo P651RA (nouveau uses PR3), lspci: 00:01.0 PCI bridge [0604]: Intel Corporation Xeon E3-1200

[PATCH] pci/quirks: Add quirk to reset nvgpu at boot for the Lenovo ThinkPad P50
On a very specific subset of ThinkPad P50 SKUs, particularly ones that come with a Quadro M1000M chip instead of the M2000M variant, the BIOS seems to have a very nasty habit of not always resetting the secondary Nvidia GPU between full reboots if the laptop is configured in Hybrid Graphics mode. The reason for this happening is unknown, but the following steps and possibly a good bit of patience

[PATCH 0/5] Thunderbolt GPU fixes
Fix Thunderbolt-related issues in apple-gmux and vga_switcheroo: Patch [1/5] ("Recognize Thunderbolt devices") has already been subjected to a fair amount of scrutiny over at linux-pci@, I've submitted it 5 times total since May 2016. With luck it may be in ack-able shape now. Patch [2/5] amends apple-gmux to handle combined DP/Thunderbolt ports properly on newer MacBook Pros.

[PATCH v3 0/4] nouveau RPM fixes for Optimus (final)
Hi, Here are two patches to fix an issue reported on kernel bugzilla (infinite loop due to unchecked function) and a more important fix to fix hanging Optimus machines when runtime PM is enabled (with pm/pci patches). These are the final patches targeting v4.8. Changes compared to v2[1]: collected R-b from Hans and Mika and fixed a minor comment style issue. I recommend it to be merged before

[PATCH v2 0/4] nouveau RPM fixes for Optimus
Hi, Here are two patches to fix an issue reported on kernel bugzilla (infinite loop due to unchecked function) and a more important fix to fix hanging Optimus machines when runtime PM is enabled (with pm/pci patches). See the first version[1] for a background on the fixed problems. This is the second revision of incorporating feedback from Emil Velikov (patch 1), Mika Westerberg (patch 4).

[PATCH 0/4] nouveau fixes for RPM/Optimus-related hangs
Hi, Here are two patches to fix an issue reported on kernel bugzilla (infinite loop due to unchecked function) and a more important fix to fix hanging Optimus machines when runtime PM is enabled (with pm/pci patches).
