Hi all, I took the CVS from WineX (as mentioned on the transgaming.com Website). I downloaded fine and compiled fine. But: I have only a wine exec, but no winex. In the tools subfolder, there is a winex. But when I run it it just states, that some dir´s are missing (/usr/lib/transgaming and so on). The exec winex is only a script, no bin. Does somebody know how to build a real winex with DX8

I read on transgaming.com that you can download winex 2.1 with CVS tag winex-2-1, but what is the exact complete syntax to use to download the winex 2.1 source code?

Hello, I tried to run Master of Orion II Win95 edition just for fun. I'm using a wine only installation without any Windows binaries. The installation went fine. But I'm not able to start the program. When I run "wine Orion95.exe" on the command line, a black rectangle appears in the upper left corner of the screen. Then I get the following messages:

I know this is an incredibly simple question, but I don't think I've seen anyone in this NG ask about it as best I can remember. Basically, what's the pros/cons of WineX over the standard version from Winehq? I have no problems with compiling from source, but in terms of application support and suchlike, could anyone with experience with both versions of WINE give any advice?

Hello! I play CounterStrike (CS) a lot on my linux box. But since i use SuSE8.0 the installation of CS crashes right at the beginning, the debugger cant tell me anything interesting. All i wanna know is if anyone here got CS working with the latest WineX version and SuSE8.0. Thanks! Mario

Hi, I'm trying to install the game "Aquanox" under Wine which needs DirectX 8.0. I've found a mail in the wine mailing list archive stating that wine already includes DirectX, but Aquanox keeps complaining about a missing d3d8.dll. Trying to install DirectX 8.0, I end up with "DirectX couldn't be installed on this computer". Any hints on this one? Sebastian --

dont know if this is the right place to ask ..(if there is a special wineX mailinglist im sorry).. it try to run Anno 1602 with WineX, since holarse.net say its possible, i thought i can try that too :-) i got the wineX cvs from Saturday, the Setup runned out of the Box... i configured wineX to run in Desktop mode and if i try to start the game, i only hear the sound, dont see any picture :-(

Ok, I've tried wine with about 10 different aplications and it always returns SOME kind of error... and it closes... the only one I can run without ANY problem is DiabloII.... not even half life runs on wine... Using wineX didn't solve any problem.. in fact I think it it even harder... Any idea why wine won't work with virtually no game at all??? thanks a lot -- Alan Bort Linux

The apps start up wonderfully, but during the installation process, I get an error about insufficient disk space. I've noticed lots of people posting to this board running ancient versions of wine. Upgrading or replacing wine is easy..but I know some of you are slighty afraid of messing what you got set up already. There are current binaries, rpms, and source here http://www.winehq.com/download.shtml I recommend getting the CVS snapshot rpm (the one on top) or to just use cvs to get the source
