Just can't get sound working in Firefox
I have been all up and down my Firefox options, and all up and down whatever sound card configurations I could find in Gnome. And I just can't get sound to work. Whether it's a Flash animation, a Quicktime movie, or anything, they all run, but no sound. All other applications that run sound, like Xine or XMMS, work fine (although mysteriously XMMS every now and again loses it's

Issues w/ Sound
Hello, everyone!! Kind of new to Linux, and totally new to Wine. Thanks to a wonderful error I made yesterday, however, it's all I got. I'm using Fedora 13 through Gnome (although I have KDE and a couple of other desktops installed as well). Anyway, I'm having some issues with the audio in Wine. When I press the "Test Sound" button under the Audio Tab in the Wine

second x-server window has no sound. Please help!
This is not WINE, but more xinit question, so I am sorry if anyone is offended. I searched for two days for an answer that works for me , and did not get any answer in Ubuntu forums.I ask this question here, because it seems a lot of people run their win games in separate windows, so I hope on who knows might be willing to help. My problem Every game I run starts and works OK in a separate

[fdo] Linux with Graphics and Sound
Hello Linus Torvalds, Paul Davis, The state of most desktop and office applications under Linux seem quite healthy. People are working hard making the Linux desktop work. Yet, I am very sorry, but I cannot describe the deployment and maintaince of 3D graphics and sound API's as well as drivers as anything other than woeful. My hope is an enviroment where both open-source and commcial

KMIDI problem

KMIDI goes merrily along playing the file, but I get NO SOUND. My motherboard has built in audio but it's disabled and I"m using an old Audiopci 128 card which seems to work fine for

lotro - no sound or options alsa/wine 1.3.27
Pre wine version 1.2.26 sound worked fine in lotro and the in game audio options page showed the sound card in a dropdown box and titles for all of the sound option slide bars. In 1.3.26 and now 1.3.27 there is no sound in game and the audio options window does not show any sound card or titles for the sound options or various volume slider bars and all of the bars are set at minimum. Firefox, sound, flash under CentOS 4.7
If I run firefox then everything is fine... until I hit a page with flash and sound on it (youtube, some other stuff). Then it sems to lock the sound device and no other programs (eg Pidgin) can make sounds. In previous versions of firefox (firefox 2? Can't remember) I could run it under esddsp and then firefox/Flash played nicely with others. However now firefox just doesn't start up.

recording sound: how 2 control recording level?
Hi gang! I'm trying to record (to .wav files) sound coming in on the line input of my sound card (in this case, output of a tape deck). For LISTENING purposes, I can control the level with the Gnome Mixer. However, the RECORDING level is not affected by the mixer. As a result, the recorded audio is badly clipped and horribly distorted. I don't understand enough about how this stuff
