slow and max connection errors
Sorry about not being specific enough. I will try and be more so in the
future. Here is what I have currently:
Apple X-serve running Yellowdog (a Redhat 9 port for ppc) with 1GB of
RAM, 3 60GB HD not setup as RAID. They are individual partitions (/var
and /, /home and /shared). The shared partition is strictly for Samba
file sharing. I build in a matching user in both the system and in

Speex test cases?
I'm trying to get speex to encode a bit faster, mainly by rewriting a few
functions in SSE and translating the GCC __asm__ to VC __asm.
There's 2 functions I'm targeting, first is vq_nbest which consumes 40% of
the time at high complexity and split_cb_search_shape_sign. Which consumes
just over 30%. I've split out two functions from:
cb_search_precompute_energy - loop at the

Gnome annoyances
How do I disable /usr/libexec/gsd-backlight-helper on a user's
WORKSTATION? This is clearly something that should NEVER, EVER be running
if it's not a laptop....

wine + laptop = backlight off ???
I've recently installed wine on my laptop (Dell B130) to play War3
(which works flawlessly on my desktop btw). The problem is that since I
first ran wine, when ever I close my laptop the backlight stays off.
Normally it turns back on when I open it, but now it stays dark. Also
(I believe a related problem) wine leaves my display in a
lower-than-usual resolution. What configuration changes does

backlight support
Hi there,
A lot of people are experiencing problems with backlight support. It seems
that they won't be any solution in near future, so I wanted to ask if nouveau
is going to support the backlight management, and when ?
thx

Ended up here looking for a solution to "Fn+F5 and Fn+F6 don't modify
brightness on Sony VAIO VPCCW (GT 230M)"[1]
Posting the card details below in case they're useful to anyone.

patch for backlight control with gt 525M (c0)
Hi,
I wrote a patch for nouveau_backlight.c to support the backlight control of the GT 525M. Only the case NV_C0: is needed to get the backlight control with my NVC0 card working. I don't think that it's worth to add new functions for c0 if the old ones still work.
This is my first patch for the Linux kernel.
Best Regards
Florian Scholz

Cisco 7960 backlight update and prices.
Hi Guys
Sorry, I've been away for a few days.
As the backlight is an iterative process I thought I'd get some feedback before I move to the next stage:-
The colour of the backlight:-
I think blue would work best?
On/Off Status, I've put some thought into this and think the light should come on in the following circumstances:-
Phone Rings
Phone handset is picked up

7960 Backlight project status?
I haven't seen any status on the 7960 backlight project lately...I tried
to email the original poster but his mailbox appears to be over quota.
Does anyone have an update on this?
Thanks,
Marty Mastera
