option 'auth users' in rsyncd.conf
Hi there,
this is my first posting to this list, so let me quickly introduce
myself. I'm Alex and currently working on a new version of the rsync
package for the eisfair Linux distribution?.
I have some problems understanding the behaviour of the 'auth users'
option in the rsyncd.conf file when running rsync in daemon mode. I set
up a module and a secrets file. This is the behaviour

rsync server bootscript - stop and status considerations
Hello :-)
I want to create a boot/shutdown script including the usual restart, start,
status and stop options (on Slackware64 13.1). Netsearching for prior art,
I did not find any comprehensive examples. The normal technique seems to be
to kill the process recorded in the PID file (let's call it the daemon) but
this does not terminate all the rsync server processes.

enquiry
Dear R-help,
I am trying to estimate a Cox model with nested effects basing on the
minimization of the overall AIC; I have two frailties terms, both gamma
distributed. There is a error message (theta2 argument misses) and I
don?t understand why. I would like to know what I have wrong. Thank you
very much for your time.

Axis Breaks with ggplot2
R-help -
I'm trying to create axis breaks similar to this :
http://www.r-bloggers.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/bar-chart-natural-axis-split1.png
.
Is there a way to do this in R? Here's my code thus far:

"exp", "unedit"), class = "factor"), trial.avg = c(4.04583333333333,

question about survival datas with repeated mesurements
I have to study censured datas concernig the occurence of infection at the point of insertion of catheter in patients with renal disease. Catheter may be removed for ather reasons than infection, in this case, the observation is censored. Each has exactly 2 observations. The question are the pronostic factors of infection (the other variables are; age, sex, type of renal disease...). Could you

Help with filing a [maybe] ZFS/mmap bug.
Hi All,
I have what I think is a ZFS related bug. Unfortunately my simplest
test case is a bit cumbersome and I haven't definitively proven that
the problem is ZFS related.
I'm hoping for some feedback on how to move forward.
Quick background: I rip my CD's using grip and produce flac files. I
tag the music using Musicbrainz' Picard and transcode it to mp3's

Jumbo frames problem with Realtek NICs?
I was trying to do some performance testing between using iSCSI on the
host as a diskfile to a guest vs the VM guest using the iSCSI device
directly.
However, in the process of trying to establish a baseline performance
figure, I started increasing the MTU settings on the PCI-express NICs
with RTL8168B chips.
First bottleneck was discovering the max MTU allowed on these is 7K
instead of 9K but

Mapping usernames
Dear all
I am trying to configure samba username map file in order to map the
same user from a windows domain to 2 different unix users:
Map to = map from
bea = PRODUCTION\garcijo
mpcadmin = PRODUCTION\garcijo
but only works for the first map in the map file. When I try to use a
share with permissions for mpcadmin unix user, I realize that smbd takes
the first map (bea user) and

[1.3.20]-Capture The Mouse Works Great. Suggestions...
Hi,
I've been crying for a long time about mouse issues
while running a full screen game in an emulated desktop window,
but with newest Wine these issues are gone.
Would it be possible to have some hot key
that the user can press to uncapture the mouse?
For example, VirtualBox toggles mouse capture
by pressing the right [Ctrl] key on

problem locfit
I have a problem with the use of locfit with censured data, when I carry out locfit by:
fitbmt<-locfit(~recur,data=BMTAGE11,cens=df.status,family="hazard",alpha=0.5)
it does not give me any message, but if I want to obtain the graph or even if I ask for (fitbmt) made it gives me the following message:

question related to S-Plus
Dear r-help,
Having used S-Plus for many years, it has
been suggested to me that I could benefit from
learning R. A question to this end, though.
Would all of my existing S-Plus arrays, functions,
and so on have to be re-created from scratch in R,
or is there a way to copy them into the .Rdata
directory? The answer to this question has major
implications for the extent to which R is

Keyboard repeat error - VNC Xen virtual framebuffer
Hello Xen-Users,
I am currently provisioning old Linux guests as HVM on a server, and giving
clients access through VNC. The current setup uses the default Xen
framebuffer as a VNC server (all configuration files have vnc=1 and a few
other settings), and my clients are using vinagre (a.k.a. Remote Desktop
Viewer) on Arch as their VNC client.
Problem: Keyboard input is not consistently handled

How do I clean up corrupted files from zpool status -v?
Hi Folks..
I have a system that was inadvertently left unmirrored for root. We were able
to add a mirror disk, resilver, and fix the corrupted files (nothing very
interesting was corrupt, whew), but zpool status -v still shows errors..
Will this self correct when we replace the degraded disk and resilver? Or is
there something else that I''m not finding that I need to do to clean up?

Email Alerts for Multiple UPSs with upssched
Ah! So I can detect the source UPS in the upssched.conf and pass it as a distinct event to the shell script. That sounds like an excellent approach.
Thanks!

Class Naming Convention
So, this has always puzzled me a bit. By convention, init.pp contains
one class, named the same as the module. However, what is the
convention when the module may have multiple external access points?
Say you have a module called ''syslog'' which provides both a client and
a server class. I typically have used syslog::server and
syslog::client. I''ve ended up using this
