Another Bone Head question
Whilst configuring another shorewall firewall router for another site, I must have made some totally newbie error.... While directly on the cable modem, it works great. But when placed on the LAN side of my existing Shorewall box, the NEW shorwall box could not ping, or look up dns or anything else. If I shutdown shorewall (clear) in the NEW box then it could surf the net and ping etc. When

tgtadm and exported iscsi volumes
Out of haste I decided for the first time not to pull down and compile iet to export a single volume to a windows machine so I just used tgtd. Well, much more time later than otherwise would be the case had I used iet, when I mount the volume on the windows ini, it can't find and install a driver? WTF? This have anything to do with the tgtd being a tech preview:) Anybody seen this b4? jlc

Accidental samba_dnsupdate success after NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED
Greetings, The process to join a new samba 4.6 DC to an existing samba 4.1 DC repeatedly caused: samba_dnsupdate --verbose --all-names to fail on the new DC with: Failed to connect host x.x.x.x on port 49152 - NT_STATUS_CONNECTION_REFUSED Noted: both samba versions are obsolete and will be updated post haste. Regardless, samba_dnsupdate was accidentally invoked on the new DC while the

Slow IDE on GeForce 8200 board
In my haste for help, I stupidly hit reply and changed the subject which I thought was enough for a new message, not giving much thought for the threading, etc. So apologies for the hijack, although I would think it fairly obvious that it wasn't deliberate or obvious to me... or a big deal really. My mail doesn't thread. Some further info for those actually interested in helping, I forgot

Fw: Just one machine could not boot into PXE
Hi, all Can I call mboot.c32 from a DOS menu, since if I do not use menu.c32, it can use the default label to bring up a default DOS menu, and if I can setup the time out for default of DOS menu to boot into local drive then I solved the problem. I just need to boot into the local drive after 10 seconds without other choices and this machine has problem with menu.c32 Or any other ideas?

behavior of squishplot in TeachingDemos
Hi list, I wonder if anyone has had this experience with squishplot() in the TeachingDemos package. Taking the example from the ?image help page, library(TeachingDemos) x <- 10*(1:nrow(volcano)) y <- 10*(1:ncol(volcano)) layout(matrix(c(1,2,3,4),ncol=2,byrow=TRUE),height=c(2,1)) ## 1st plot op <- squishplot(range(x),range(y),1) image(x, y, volcano, col = terrain.colors(100)) par(op)

FWIW- Cisco 1750 dropped packets and choppy audio
This email is intended to document an issue for anyone searching the archives. We had a problem yesterday with _all_ iax2 and sip sessions; no reasonable conversation could be established due to extremely choppy audio in one direction only (outbound from * to distant sip phones and distant * boxes). We were running HEAD from June 8th. While diagnosing the root cause, we monitored bandwidth

How do you clean up this cryptic code?
So, I''m coding my school project in Rails. There are two models, User and Restaurants. I noticed that in Restaurants, when you use the belongs_to method, you could specify the condition of the associated table. There are a few types of users, in the user_type column of the users table - owners is type 1, users are type 2. So in my haste to hand in enough code, in the Restaurant model,

1.9.18p6 release.
Hi all, Over the weekend (isn't it always :-), someone on the BugTraq list posted an analysis (not exploit code) of a potential buffer overrun in Samba, that has been present in all versions (including 1.9.18p5). As Andrew Tridgell was working over the weekend he quickly produced a fix for this (it was a problem with code using sprintf) and released it as 1.9.18p6 on Sunday, May 11th.

Easy Q: reset space cache updated?
Hi all, I had been clearing the space cache on my btrfs vol (Debian 3.10.11-1 btrfs-tools 2013-7-5) by changing the fstab to "nospace_cache, clear_cache". I ran btrfsck --repair and it said: "cache and super generation don''t match, space cache will be invalidated." Can one of the dev''s please tell me whether that message means that the space cache
