HD Failures
I'm just curious if any one else has noticed this. I've bought
hard drives from both Walmart and Best Buy. If I can wait, I order them
from newegg.com. I'm beginning to think that the staff at both Walmart
and Best Buy, somewhere along the supply line must dribble the drives
like basket balls. The reason I say that is all the drives I have bought
from those two places fail within a few

1.1Beta5 Issue
I installed 1.1Beta 5 this weekend. I had no problems at all yesterday
using Thunderbird. I started reading my mail with Squirrelmail this
morning and everything was going pretty smooth. I tried to delete a daily
e-mail I receive from careerbuilder.com and the IMAP process shot up to
99.9% and I was not able to do anything in Squirrelmail. I killed that
process and tried it again just to be

Quick programming in R calling social network routines?
I''m looking for someone to do a quick freelance programming in R to do some
network analysis. I''m a researcher with no knowledge in R (doing all my
statistics analysis in Stata and network analysis in UCINET). I would like
to quickly test the possibility to do batch network analyses using R.
The freelance should therefore write a small program that would take as
input a file

Please give me a call at the number below, any info you may have, even
on how to track down Ruby users, would be

Display problems with Freelance Graphics & Notes under Wine
I have been trying to use Freelance Graphics under Wine for a long time
(since Oct 2000 :), but I cannot seem to get the display stuff working
correctly. I always get text splattered over top of other text when
trying to view existing .PRZ files. This happens in both Freelance and
in Lotus Notes (when Notes is trying to display a file attachment of the
.prz persuasion).
A quick Google search

I need a Freelance Coder...
For what's it's worth, I do something similar to this with Andrew Taylor's
libshout-java. The Web server manages a playlist, letting users add/remove
tracks from the playlist. This playlist is consumed by a "streamer" process
that accesses the audio data and pushes it to the Icecast server.

couple basic questions
My desire to run Asterisk is finally giving me the reason to install a Linux box at home.
Is RH9 the only distro that Asterisk will run on, and can anyone recommend a good source for a cheap Linux (RH9) box?
For example, walmart.com has microtel boxes with no OS. Will RH9 and Asterisk run on these boxes?
Thanks!

service running bsd.
I will provide the kit and further details as soon as i am sure the

Huh, why not just use ices with a perl song choser module ? This
eliminates the need to develop the libshout based streamer (use ices
instead) and give ices the title from your module, ices will take care of
the rest. Or I am wrong ? :)

how do I download pictures from a dumb phone?
How do I download pictures from a dumb phone?
I have a Samsung phone I bought at a Walmart.
According the the front, it worships Verizon.
Beyond that, I'm not at all sure what kind.
If I use a real USB connector to connect it to my PC,
CentOS sees it as a character special device.
What, if anything, I can do with that device, I do not know.
I've not found any settings related to USB.

Script for deploying a new PE 2.0 VM with VMWare.
Hi all,
I''ve created a script to glue together several parts of Puppet
Enterprise 2.0.
It enables me to deploy a server by simply creating a DNS record and
starting this script.
This script:
- Clones a VMWare template
- Configures the network
- Installs the Puppet-client on the new machine
- Stops and starts the new machine if it is on the default network
(LAN)
The script

a question regarding 'cor' function
I'm a little bit confused with how exactly the 'cor' function handles
missing values. Should the last two function calls give the same results?
