using block devices as harddisks
Hello everybody, I'm currently working to get bochs to support block devices (eg. /dev/hda) as harddisks. I downloaded the current release http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/bochs/bochs-1.4.tar.gz and found that size detection doesn't work. Here's a patch to get the detection working. But I got another problem: the bios won't boot if there are more than 15 heads! Is there

SEcontext setting failure on an external harddisk
I tried moving a PosgreSQL database to an external harddisk due to lack of space on the main harddisks. Not the ideal solution of course but it should work. However, on CentOS 7 the external harddisk is mounted under /run/media and the user. I copied the postgresql database directory and made sure it is owned recursively by postgres, changed the necessary settings in both the systemd unit and the

Example: dom01 contains: domU1 on volume group xenserver1 with logical volume domU1 and LV domU1-swp domU2 on volume group xenserver1 with logical volume domU2 and LV

Good evening from Singapore! The foremost question which I want to ask is, what is the universal (world wide) understanding behind degaussing hard drives? I work for No Secrets Agency (NSA) Pte Ltd (fictitious company name used). General question about ZFS and RAIDZ
Hello to the forum, with my general question about ZFS and RAIDZ I want the following to know: Must all harddisks for the storage pool have the same capacity or is it possible to use harddisks with different capacities? Many thanks for the answers. Best regards JueDan -- This message posted from opensolaris.org

Performance Issues with GBit LAN
Hi. I have 2 PC's connected with 1GBit NIC's. When I transfer a file from my File-Server(Redhat9.0, 256 SD-RAM, 300MHz PII, RTL8169 NIC, 2x Western Digital WD200JB RAID 0) to my Windows-PC(AMD Athlon XP 1800+, 1024 MB DDR-RAM, WINXP PRO, RTL8169 NIC, 2x Western Digital WD080JB RAID 0) with Samba, i get Speeds around 8-9MB/sec. nopassany parameter causing trouble
I'm running into an issue which I didn't expect to encounter. When specifying the "nopassany" parameter to hide physical drives, I'm getting different output from ELTORITO.SYS (v1.5, syslinux distro) such that it fails. My intent is a LiveCD functionality with a DOS RAMDISK program taking over as drive C:, meaning either no FAT partitions on harddisks and removable disks

[ANNOUNCE] syslinux for win2k/winxp
Hi I have ported syslinux to win2k/winxp. It is attached. It has been tested with floppies and flashcards, but not on harddisks. On harddisks I'm not sure if I should use \\.\PHYSICALDRIVEX or \\.\X: as arguments to CreateFile (I'm no windows wiz) and I do not currently have a system to test this on. The program can be compiled using mingw or in cygwin using the option -mno-cygwin

xen2.0.3 and aic79xx
Has anyone expirienced problems with the aic79xx controller and xen 2.0.3 (liinux-2.6.10)? I have got FC3 running and compiled xen-2.0.3 from the sources. The compile ssems to work fine but after rebooting the xen0 domain the server stops during boot at the aic79xx message - no harddisks are recognized. I''ve searched through the mailinglist up and down, asked google but

(KVM) How can I migrate VM in a non shared storage environment?
Hi, I have a server running CentOS 5.5 with KVM capabilities. I need to migrate all the VMs to another server with the exact same hardware specs. The problem is it is running on individual harddisks, not shared storage. What is the best way to migrate to minimise downtime? Thanks!
