Apple iMac OS X 10.13.5 | Powershield Defender 1200 UPS
I got my USB ups reporting on macOS, but it was quite a while ago, I’ll have to dig into how I did it..
I do remember is wasn’t simple.. ( actually is was long drawn out pain in the …. )
Maybe search for posts from me, I’ll check what I did on the weekend and get back to you..
Or, buy an APC.. as they will just appear in Energy Saver..

[HCL] PowerShield Defender 1200VA supported by blazer_usb (mustek subdriver)
Hi Team,
I've been experimenting with getting the PowerShield Defender 1200VA UPS working and it appears to be supported by the blazer_usb driver, although it did not have the correct permissions within udev to load the driver as the non-root user after an RPM install on Fedora Core 16.

PowerShield Defender 1200VA
Hi,
Sometime ago I asked the question about getting nut to run on my iMac as
I was having trouble getting the USB driver to behave with OS X. The
same driver under LINUX is fine. It was suggested that the better option
might be to run nut on a Rasberry PI instead and monitor the nut daemon
from the iMac.
Well I have bought a Rasberry PI, I have other things planned for it. I
have installed nut

Hi,
Can anyone help me out re how I change the startup options for mysql (v5.0)
running on my Mac? (I just want to add the "--log" option is about it). I
tried doing "sudo ./Library/StartupItems/MySQLCOM/MySQLCOM restart" however
this started a 2nd instances of mysql & mysqld.
Here is what I see start after Mac startup if this helps:
$ ps aux | grep mysql

Troubleshooting on OS X
I've got tinc running happily on a couple linux and win computers, but no
luck on OS X. I'm on Yosemite 10.10.5, and I think I followed the OS X
tutorial exactly, but no luck.
Here's my error message:

I didn't have a /Library/Extensions/tun.kext/ on my machine. I googled
around, and downloaded and installed from http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net/.
Not sure why the macports install didn't work, but it seems I'm making
progress.
Now I get this:

Power Shield Defender 1200 - The Story Continues
Hi,
Sometime ago [ June 2018 ] I posted a message about getting trying to
get NUT to work with a Power Shield Defender 1200VA UPS. This model
appears in the HCL at https://networkupstools.org/stable-hcl.html
That UPS reported the following when queried using 'lsusb' on an iMac
running macOS [ 10.15 ]

ups_set_altinterface() breaks tripplite_usb on Mac OS X
Is there a particular reason why we are setting the alternate
interface to 0 in drivers/libusb.c?
I have seen some documentation which indicates that this should
already done by the OS when the device is enumerated. If that is the
case, then there is no reason why we should hardcode the alternate
interface to 0.
If I remove the following code, tripplite_usb seems to work*:

How do I increase the fd limit on OS X?
Hi All,
I just upgraded to the new 1.1rc5 from 1.0 that I had been using and it
advised me to increase the file descriptor limit. I'm not sure how to
do this. There is a command built into tcsh that allows me to do this
called limit, but sudo limit 4224 doesn't work, and usually dovecot is
started from the rc.local file if I recall right, and I'm not sure how
to set this up from

Troubleshooting on OS X
Thanks very much! It's alive! For others who are having problems, this is
a summary of the differences I needed between Linux and OS X:
You'll need to install http://tuntaposx.sourceforge.net/ manually.
On tinc.conf:

Name = ntwigg2014linux
AddressFamily = ipv4
Interface = dpsfVPN
ConnectTo = dpserver001

Same, but remove the Interface line entirely

Hi Charles,
Thanks for your help.
Seems to be mostly ok except am getting error access denied. See below.
I see from searching this is a common error but so far I can't find a fix.
This is how I configured things before make and install.

OSX and USB issue
Hi list,
I?ve spend a LOT of time reading and trying many versions, from Fink to Brew and also compiling source.
OSX 10.11.3
NUT: v2.7.4
Driver: nutdrv_atcl_usb
I have the same problem that has been reported, that Mac OSX grabs the USB device so NUT can?t use it.

WEBrick OS X StartupItem?
Is it possible to create a Startup Item for WEBrick? My startup item,
named swu, works fine when I run it from the command line, just not
when the computer is starting up. I''m wondering if some resources are
missing for ruby to load at this point... or something. Here''s output
from /var/log/system.log... Any suggestions would be appreciated.
