Does the NUT shutdown the UPS?
Hi everybody! I was reading the user manual but something is little gray to me. Does the master instruct the UPS to shutdown after it? I'm asking because I'm still testing stuff here and I don't want my UPS to power everything down. I would be a terrible experience if it happens! :-) Regards,

Does the NUT shutdown the UPS?

I wrote up my own notes on how this works - you will find it in chapter 5.4 of http://rogerprice.org/NUT/ConfigExamples.A5.pdf > I'm asking because I'm still testing stuff here and I don't want my UPS to

upsmon -c fsd command in pfsense master does not shutdown Synology slave
I have pfsense set as the NUT master and my Synology NAS as a slave client. I tried recreating a shutdown sequence by issuing a /usr/local/sbin/upsmon -c fsd command in pfsense (so as to preserve battery lifetime while testing all these) but the weird thing is that my Syno doesn't seem to get a hold of the FSD event. My pfsense master and UPS shuts down properly though. As soon as I issue the

Nut-upsuser Digest, Vol 231, Issue 2
By side effect, lack of "killpower" touch file works to not-tell the OS shutdown integration on OMV to turn off the UPS. A more proper way about this is generally to change MONITOR back-ups 1 monmaster 4L[p9<0Vi|Z>xKgK master (see my earlier message or docs about primary/master vs. secondary/slave clients), to MONITOR back-ups 1 monmaster 4L[p9<0Vi|Z>xKgK slave and it

Master Works, Slave Does Not
Hello, I am presently upgrading my servers. The old ones are running Suse 10.1 and I am upgrading to the most recent Debian. Oh, and I am not an IT guy rather a hacker who loves Linux and seems to enjoy getting myself confused. Presently I am trying to get the Nut running and am having problems. I have the master server working but it does not inform the slave server to shut down. For the most

Samba 3.6.9 - Redundancy (HA/BDC/DRBD)
Hi everybody, our university uses a Samba 3.6.9 server as PDC for a windows domain on a single physical server (external LDAP on another server is used). To get some redundancy up running a second physical machine was bought, which is exactly the same as the one running. Now I?m searching for the best way to get the job done. The first thought was to build a HA-Cluster with Corosync/Pacemaker

Suggestions welcome for expanded single array and redundancy
Hi We have started evaluating Glusterfs and I am very impressed with what we have seen and tested. I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction or offer a solution. We have multiple servers which we wish to use for storage. We would like to have a single storage array accessible by client machines on the network. We would like to achieve N+2 redundancy but have the ability to keep

unclear about expected shutdown behavior
Dear all, first post here and wanted to start by thanking everybody who made this possible. I've been reading the docs and setting up NUT from packages on ubuntu xenial. I have nut[-client,-server] installed, version 2.7.2-4ubuntu1. My UPS is an Eaton 5S 1500, which I picked from the list of supported devices. I've got it working and I can correctly query/monitor the UPS via USB etc.

[LLVMdev] Redundancy in Named Metadata
Hi All, I have a question about named metadata, i.e. NamedMDNode. I have one dedicated named metadata node, say "clang.global.func.type", for conveying information about functions defined in each translation unit. In the module resulting from each translation unit, the dedicated (named metadata) node does not have redundancy. However, this dedicated (named metadata) node contains

Asterisk Redundancy
Hello, My host just had a faulty power supply and therefore, my Asterisk server was down for 7 hours. It was a Sunday so no one was making calls, however if it happened during the week, I'd have problems. I was trying to find a whitepaper or advice on how to set up two Asterisk servers to provide some redundancy. I've been googling "asterisk redundancy" but all I've found

RE: document.getElementsByClassName (prototype) andElement.childrenWithClassName (scriptaculous) redundancy?
Isn''t the difference that the scriptaculous one only gets child nodes from the node you specify, whereas the prototype one gets all in the entire document? Still, it would be nice to just have the one, and let you pass in the document element if you wanted all of them. Just guessing, really. I haven''t looked at the code in question. Re: 911 and lawsuits and redundancy
Well, to do an upgrade on a traditional system you have the same issues, perhaps even worse as everything is physically wired to one system. To develop for production you must have a dev environment, a beta test and a scheduled release right? Redundancy in controller? What are your thoughts?
I am having a tough time coming up with a decision on this: Is it ok to have redundancy in your controllers and views for the sake of flexibility? Or should your controllers and views be 100% DRY by creating private methods in your controllers that accept parameters and using partials that accepts locals? I tried being 100% DRY but my private methods are getting very complex and my partials are

outlier identification: is there a redundancy-invariant substitution for mahalanobis distances?
Dear R-experts, Searching the help archives I found a recommendation to do multivariate outlier identification by mahalanobis distances based on a robustly estimated covariance matrix and compare the resulting distances to a chi^2-distribution with p (number of your variables) degrees of freedom. I understand that compared to euclidean distances this has the advantage of being scale-invariant.

Apple Mac slave
> When you carry out tests to ensure that the setup is working well, you will pull the power cord from the wall and wait until the UPS reaches LB. This means waiting and wasting time. You can speed up the testing by setting LB very high so that the UPS reaches it quickly. Later you can set a more reasonable value. After the first test and the NAS is restarted I had to change the setting

NUT Client shuts down when performing runtime calibration on APC UPS
Hello, I am using an APC UPS (Smart-UPS 2200 RM) to secure my SAN. The SAN runs on FreeBSD 9.1-RELEASE-p5 and is using NUT 2.6.5 version 2. Since the UPS has also a Network card AP9630 I am using the snmp-ups driver to connect the SAN to the UPS for signaling. Last week I need to change the battery pack and then I needed to perform a runtime calibration. I used the web interface of the AP9630

Master Works, Slave Does Not
On the slave which is 192.168.0.6 in /var/log/daemon.log I see entries of: Nov 10 17:43:03 server2 upsmon[2120]: Poll UPS [root at 192.168.0.7] failed - [root] does not exist on server 192.168.0.7 In upsmon.conf I have one entry: MONITOR root at 192.168.0.7 1 sdrups autocadba2 slave (Yes, I realize I displayed my password some time ago) So I think it is saying that root does not exist on server

Does running redundancy with ZFS use as much disk space as doubling drives?
If I''m gonna use OpenSolaris, I will have to buy new hardware, which I can''t really defend at the moment. But I may be able to defend it in the near future if using redundancy on ZDF uses less disk space as simply getting extra drives and do identical copies, with periodic CRC checks of the source material to check the health. Or will I use as much drive space with redundancy?
