I wrote up my own notes on how this works - you will find it in chapter 5.4 of

I live in an area with frequent power outages, so I use a nut configuration [1]
which shuts down the system using a timer rather than waiting for LB status.
Important: It requires a UPS unit capable of

Power Down ESXi before SAN
I have 2 APC UPS systems, one is connected to my ESXi host and the other to
my FreeNAS. The battery for the FreeNAS will run out before the battery
for the ESXi, so I need ESXi to shutdown first. If I wait until
BatteryLow on ESXI, it will be too late as FreeNAS will have already
shutdown. How can I change the configuration on ESXI to shutdown after a
small delay so that it is done before

CentOS 7, systemd, nut-monitor, and failing to shut down the UPS
I've been wrasslin' with a problem on a CentOS 7 host that I'm using as
my main NUT server.
When the battery gets low while the server is shutting down it is
supposed to signal the UPS to shut down as well. This is clear, well
documented, and The Right and True Thing to Do<tm>.
However, the default scripts provided in the EPEL RPM aren't actually
doing it. The host halts as

Proposed new documentation "Configuration Examples"
Most of the questions asked in the nut-user mailing list seem to me to be
either erudite technical discussion of new and exotic UPS units, or n00b
questions of the style "I have this old UPS so I installed NUT but it
didn't work".
NUT is thoroughly documented with man pages and User Manual, but from my
own experience it is not easy for Joe N00b to know what a working setup

Now back to computers - so re-checked some bits.
The existing https://networkupstools.org/documentation.html page offers
currently the

This in turn redirects to a particular newest

If you don't like the warning, then a command such as upsc ups at cyva 2>/dev/null
will hide it.
Otherwise the simplest, and possibly the safest,

what is NUT
hello I found the Nut project by chance and I wanted to know if it will
serve my purpose.
work with several brands of UPS (Eaton, CM, APC, Vertiv (Emerson)).
I want to know if I could change parameters, update UPS battery and
firmware, etc?

The pieces should all be there, I think.
NUT source iterations cooperate with the sister nut-website repo on github,
as well as nut-ddl and some more, to produce an horde of static HTML pages,
and PDF versions of some docs, tarballs, etc. which are pushed to a repo
for "github pages" and with their magic (I guess GH spins up a container

Help with Elite 800VA usb UPS
Ok, I am running NUT in dummy mode.
I have added a new ups in ups.conf
[dummy]
driver = dummy-ups
port = upsc.dev
desc = "dummy ups for testing purposes"
upsc.dev has been generated by exporting the Elit configuration.
I have added the monitor line in upsmon.conf and the "exec" flags (all the
events)

Cyber Power System CP1500 AVR UPS: changing battery.charge.low value [ups.delay.start sidebar]
Very good point. I hope to write a beginners guide -- more like adopting
my notes --on NUT.
I could summarise your point that technically one should only override
settings that NUT can act upon (like those settings that control Low
Battery or, as stated in the documentation if the reported value is known
to be incorrect. Overriding a variable that is out of scope for NUT (as

Synthesize low batt (LB) fron SNMP UPS which does not support this?
Hi,
after ignoring this for too long (see [1]), I'm still struggling how to
shut down servers fed by two independent UPS systems. Both are connected
to NUT via the snmp-ups driver with mibs "huawei" and "netvision".
However, I fear both do not feature the LB warning via ups.status.
We can shut down all less important servers (conencted to a single UPS)
via upssched

NUT & UPS, how to shut down client after 2 min on battery?
Hi!
Some systems I have take some time to shut down, so I would like them to shut down if the UPS have been on battery for 2 minutes.
Internet has told me that SHUTDOWNCMD ?/sbin/shutdown -h +0? in /etc/nut/upsmon.conf will execute when the UPS is both OB (on battery) and LB (Low battery). Like in wiki.ipfire.org - Detailed NUT Configuration<https://wiki.ipfire.org/addons/nut/detailed>

Init SSL without certificate database
Good Day,
We are getting "Init SSL without certificate database? in response to all requests.
The NUT software is installed on Ubuntu Server 22.04 LTS.
All the documentation that we have found that references this error have some sort of hack.
Why doesn?t the package support a published path or environment variable where a user can point to a functional certificate database?
