I have been trying to install Toshiba's ConfigFree software under Wine-0.9.21 (Adam Schreiber's pre-built package For Slackware-10.2) on a laptop running Slackware Linux (10.2), and I keep running into trouble. Samba-3.0-alpha9 compilation problems
Hello, I'm afraid this message is going to be a little long (188 lines, not counting the headers). It is comprised, in fact, of two posts I sent to the comp.protocols.smb newsgroup, from which I've not received any replies. I'm hoping I can have better luck with the mailing list, (to which I've just subscribed, so it's probably most appropriate to send replies there...)

Hi I''m currently setting up a game server and have opened all ports needed to run it. What other options do I have regarding protecting the open ports? I''m worried about people attacking the open ports to render the server useless. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Recoil UK

Wine install problem - undefined reference to `bMenuVisible'
I installed 1.1.6 and it was working fine except for one application. I installed 0.9.32 after changing my .wine directory to .wine_bak. (someone mentioned that they had got my application to work on the older version). The application still didn't work, so I changed my .wine directory to .wine932, and changed my .wine_bak to .wine. At that point I expected everything to be back to where I had

Running text app without X

I did spend the last two hours looking for a solution and trying various things, but to no avail. I'm trying to run a command-line app (text-only). It's a cross-compiler tool for which we only have Windows binaries. The app works fine, but when I run it (i.e. to
