occassional problem wtih upslog and apc ups units via snmp ... [NA] status
I see this in syslog: Aug 12 03:57:22 orion upsd[18274]: Data for UPS [a102-apc-10] is stale - check driver (one for each UPS). Then I see a bunch of messages like this: Aug 12 03:58:02 orion upsd[18274]: write() failed for ::1: Broken pipe Aug 12 03:58:02 orion snmpd[2872]: Connection from UDP: [127.0.0.1]:50940 And then it returns to normal like this: Aug 12 03:58:04 orion upsd[18274]: UPS

I haven't tried it, but if snmp-ups polls every 30 seconds, and MAXAGE is 15, then with a random polling interval, 50% of the time the data would be more than 15 seconds old. In

longtime NUT user with APC ups units..just installed GE LP33..how to get it configured?
I have used NUT for many years to monitor our network connected UPS units...until recently they were all APC units. We replaced an old APC Silcon datacenter ups with a GE LP33 unit. It has a network card for web access and snmp support. How do I configure NUT to talk to the LP33 UPS unit? Thank you. -Bob -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... UPSLog rotating
Hi, Trying to rotate the ups.log on a FreeBSD 7.0 system and its not being nice about it. I tried the "quick and dirty" way by doing : mv /var/log/ups.log ${DATEDDIRECTORY}/ups.log kill -1 `cat /var/db/nut/upslog.pid` I get : Sep 17 10:57:20 valhalla upslog[81972]: could not reopen logfile /var/log/ups.log: Permission denied So I stop upslog, remove the file, and start it

upslog patch
Hi, I have a system which monitors 2 UPSs, and it runs upslog twice. I had a problem with newsyslog rotating the log file because upslog keeps it open (arguably a bug IMO), but it also has no way of changing the PID file so newsyslog can't HUP it when log rotating. Attached is a patch which allows you to specify the argument for writepid() so you can differentiate them easily. -- Daniel

Logging using upslog problem
I upgraded from V2.2 to V2.4. I use the "upslog" command to log the values of my belkin ups (belkinunv via serial port). It would occasionally start to record garbage, but it would always go back to normal in V2.2 if I restarted. In V2.4 it would not record the values, and the process would fail after the next interval had passed. I had set if for 300 seconds. I walked through the

Tiny suggestion for upslog.c
Hi Thanks for a very nice piece of software. I have a tiny suggestion for upslog.c. It adds a signal handler for the USR1 signal, which simply triggers it to abort the current sleep and log the requested now. I find it useful because my upssched-cmd can then killall -USR1 upslog to ensure that there is an entry in the log for brief power dropouts which would otherwise be unrecorded (because

Plotting the occassional second label
Dear useRs, I'm trying to plot spray quantities against dates, and label the points on the plot. Basically quite simple, but sometimes two chemicals have been used and are listed in separate rows in the table as below; then the labels are written on top of each other. > spray SprayDate PD Trt Qwater Qai 1 2005-03-09 Spidermites Pegasus 1300 1.04 2

3phase progress?
Hi all! I've been (very) out of the loop for a while, up to the point that I had completely missed that the mailing list has moved. Oh well. However, Kjell Claesson poked at me regarding the 3phase stuff, so I found out that I had missed the recent events. In any case, it seems that the situation is unchanged regarding 3phase support. As some of you remember I made a suggestion for a

snmp-ups hacking
Hi all! I'm wondering if there's anyone doing any hacking on the snmp-ups driver at the moment. I've started looking at implementing 3phase-support, and this uncovered some rather unpleasant stuff in the snmp-ups driver that I really need to fix in order to get things sane. Those of you that's allergic to SNMP might want to stop reading now, this is rather icky ;)

Rgui.exe cannot be set as default program under Vista wtih R2.10.1
Dear moderators, when I installed the latest version of R (R2.10.1) under Microsoft Vista (service pack 2), I ran into problems associating Rgui.exe with .RData files. On doubleckicking such files in explorer, they open in a Rterm window. Trying to associate Rgui.exe with the Rdata files via control panel / default programs does not work - Rgui is not added to the list of recommended programs. I

[OT] Combinatorials wtih constraints
This is not an R question, but a question on some combinatorial mathematics. Apologies for the OT if it is wildy inappropriate. The traditional C(n.k) method tells me how many combinations k I can make with n objects. However, suppose I want the number of combinations where an object cannot be used more than Q times where Q is a parameter that changes? For instance: combn(LETTERS[1:5], 3) shows

trouble wtih webstore schema, handling product variations
Hi Railers, Does anyone have any guidance on setting up a simple way to handle product variations (e.g garment size/color)? Initially, I had thought that I would make a variation model which defined the extra bits, but it seems quite inflexible especially so if a store were to sell non-clothing items that also had variants of one flavor or another. product has_many variations title

speeding up loop and dealing wtih memory problems
Dear All and Mark, Given a dataset that I have called dat, I was hoping to speed up the following loop: for(i in 1:835353){ for(j in 1:86){ if (is.na(dat[i,j])==TRUE){dat[i,j]<-0 }}} Actually I am also having a memory problem. I get the following: Error: cannot allocate vector of size 3.2 Mb In addition: Warning messages: 1: In dat[i, j] <- 0 : Reached total allocation of 1535Mb: see
