Linux apps from inside Wine (was:Re: Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524)
Hi Andreas, I saw someone (Mike or Joachim, I think) at the list saying you have to shutdown the wineserver. It will overwrite the system.reg as soon it goes down. So before you make the changes be sure there is none wine* process running. Hope this helps. If not, write us again and we'll help you (sometime ago I run into the same problem but I can't remember the

Linux apps from inside Wine (was:Re: Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524)
Hi Shadi, I'm also using notes 5.0.12 and I've posted at May,05-2005 a message just talking about how to start Linux apps from a Windows app over/under Wine. The only problem is that I'm not using wine-20050524 ... 8-(. Instead I'm using 20040813. Follows the message. Feel free to ask me more questions and if you want I can send to you another types of scripts.

Wine-20050524 problem
I had Wine-20050310 installed from FreeBSD ports. This version worked fine for me. But after upgrading to Wine-20050524 some applications don't work properly. E.g. Intranet Chat: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Chat/LAN-Messaging-Clients/Intranet-Chat.shtml. Running this applications I see a following message: fixme:system:SystemParametersInfoW Unimplemented action: 8193

Linux apps from inside Wine (was:Re: Problems with Lotus Notes R5.0.12 under Wine 20050524)
Hi Andy, > Hi! > > I did as you said and at least, my acroread starts, but it seems, that the temporary file could not be created. > I had the same problem some time ago 8-) > I looked into my logfile and it showed me the right path and acroread is fired up. You should put in the "acroread.exe" script a line like this: env >> $LOG (or, if you prefer:

I'm totally new to using Wine and for that matter Fedora. I recently installed Wine as a package. I've been trying to run Delphi applications using Wine and everytime I try to run it say that c:\\windows is not accessible. Does anyone have any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Fw: Lotus Notes + wine 20050725
Hello all, Today I downloaded the latest WINE version from CVS, and I'm still getting the same behavior and errors, which prevent a normal installation of Lotus Notes versions 6.5 and 7. Shadi P.S. The first email did not post to the list because it's size was more than 40KB.

AcroRead failing miserably in CentOS 5.0
I could swear that this was working just last week, but now when I run the Adobe Acrobat reader, it hangs. If I run it "directly" (/usr/bin/acroread) with -DEBUG as the first argument, I get an infinite loop of: expr: syntax error I tried removing and reinstalling it, but no change. acroread security problem
Dear all, I think there's a security problem with the acroread plugin for firefox. I'm using sysutils/pwsafe to manage my passwords. A feature of this tool is that it can copy the requested password to the X clipboard, allowing the user to paste it (eg. in a password box), never seeing the pass in clear. When I load a PDF document in Firefox, the acroread process lives on even after the

Problems with yum/rpm and %pre scriptlet error 255
I am running xen (2.6.16-xen3_86.1_rhel4.1) on top of a stock CentOS-4.4 installation. I have not added any additional virtual machines however. When trying to install (as root) acrobat reader 7 for Linux from the adobe rpm (AdobeReader_enu.i386 7.0.8-1) I get the following errors: error: %pre(AdobeReader_enu-7.0.8-1.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 255 error: install: %pre scriptlet

a fix for rotated PDF graphs
Hi, I have found references for the following problem in the list archives, but no nice solution. So I decided to post one I came up with. The problem is that graphs output as eps files, for example using ps.options(onefile=FALSE, paper="special", width=8, height=8, horizontal=FALSE, pointsize=12) get rotated when I convert them to pdf using epstopdf. Both ghostview and

acroread 8 on CentOS-4 (was for SL4)
I know acroread is not part of CentOS but many people use it. Thought forwarding this post on the SciLinux mailing list might help those who use acroread on CentOS-4. === excerpt === The "latest" version officially compatible with RHEL4 is acroread-7.0.9, but this currently has open security holes (CVE-2007-5663 et al). http://www.adobe.com/support/security/advisories/apsa08-01.html

Acroread9 crash in CentOS7
Hello, I'm getting a crash with acroread on my CentOS7 (AdobeReader_enu-9.5.5-1.i486). I install the official rpms from ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/unix/, tried 9.5.5, and former v9, v8, v7. /usr/bin/acroread loads well, but when you click a menu, bang. Same if you start acroread w/ a .pdf filename in parameter, the window opens up then crashes. I modified the acroread script to

graphics output produces corrupt/empty files
Hi there. as a newbie I figured out the basics of R but when it came to graphic output it was a bad surprise. All but the X11 device do not function properly. Most of them generate an empty file and pdf() produces non valid output (gs and acroread as well). Very annoying, because I have to write a report. I got the recent stable binary rpm (v1.6.2) from CRAN on a SuSE Linux 8.1. Any help? CU

Speaking of firefox...
The latest version seems to have a bug. One of my users went to look at a paper in Phy Rev E, and the firefox pdf view looked fine... but what printed had garbage for scales on the graphs. Then I had him use the firefox print preview... and it was garbage. Looked at it on my system, ditto, and firefox was updated yesterday on all our systems. Save as (why isn't there an "open"?) a
