Capture SIP all the time
Is there a way to configure the old SIP channel to stay in sip set debug
all the time, without human intervention and also at boot time, by default?

Isn't sngrep a great tool? Since discovering it my use of
tcpdump/wireshark has cratered.
Being able to compare an INVITE that worked with one that didn't (with
color highlighting) rocks.

how to read sip debug
Hi Thufir,
The analysis of a SIP Debug depends on what the problem to be solved.
If you experience problems with inbound calls from a SIP trunk or
provider, you can type in Asterisk cli 'core set debug 3' and then
'sip set debug ip xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx' where xxx is the IP of your SIP
provider or from where it is supposed to come call.
Then you make a test call, and look in full log

Logging SIP connection status for review
Is anyone using something to log SIP results (connected/not, latency) that
they really like? We do some logging using simple scripts writing the
results of sip show peers to a text file if customers report issues, but it
would be nice to have a tool that logs all the time and lets us do some
better reporting. For example, graphs of latency in a time range, or a
list of unreachable phones within

Problems with inbound connection and registering phone
I have two problems. The first is that when I dial my number from a
phone on the Internet or any phone outside my LAN, Asterisk does not
respond in any way, which means somehow my system is not picking up the
fact that there's an incoming call to it.
The second problem is that I thought I'd try an internal phone to see if
I could get the hello-world stuff working at the least. I

401 error
I have a SIP trunk - calls going out work fine.
Trying to setup an incoming call with a DNIS
When I dial the number - I see nothing on the CLI.
The person says the server is returning 401
How do I debug that. Using asterisk 18.8.0
Thanks

Using Asterisk to play Icecast streams
Hi all,
A long time ago I built an Asterisk system that plays IceCast streams via
moh.
extensions.conf:
Exten => moh,1,Set(SIP_CODEC=ulaw)
Exten => moh,2,Answer
Exten => moh,3,MusicONHold(test_new)
Exten => moh,4,Hangup
musiconhold.conf
; test_new
[test_new]
mode=custom
application=/etc/mystreams/test_new.sh
test_new.sh
#!/bin/bash
wget -q -T 120 -O -

Using Asterisk to play Icecast streams
Steve,
These are live streams of events so I can't simply rip the audio. As I
mentioned at the end of my email putting in a sleep did help a bit however
there are only so many streams Asterisk will grab nicely at once with out
spiking the CPU. I also tinkered a bit with real time here is what I found:
1) If we have cachertclasses=no then Asterisk will only pull the stream if
some one is

Have you tried the '_!.' pattern?

Find out which key ended recording?
Hi Steve,
What language is that please? We're using Perl and so far I haven't found
an equivalent there.
Thanks for your help.

rotatestrategy = none not working
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the answer. Since that's what we already have configured, any
idea why it wouldn't work? As I said, when "asterisk -rx 'logger reload'"
is run it still rotates the log file.

Using g729 now that patents have expired
Now that the g729 patents have expired, how do we use g729 in Asterisk?
Will Digium be releasing a g729 codec for 'free' use or do we download the
'free' codec off the Internet now that we can use it without moral or
legal restrictions?

can anyone give me a guide on any asterisk admin solution / interface for
config management, and monitoring?
No database use is intended and I prefer open source.
Thanks for support.

Kernel/Asterisk/DAHDI/Libpri version matrix?
I googled about a bit without success, so...
Is there a version matrix available?
Something that would say: for kernel version w, you can run up to version
x of Asterisk, DAHDI version y, and libpri version z?
For example, I have a bunch of remote hosts running kernel 2.6.26,
Asterisk 11.6.0, and DAHDI 2.7.0.1.
We experience occasional Asterisk crashes, so I'd like to get as up to
