Launchin the game with : "wine Warcraft\ III.exe -opengl" results in a popup message saying "no disc inserted" whereas the disc is actually in the CDROM drive. I saw a post on

Never used wine
I read (some) docs got my CD set to r: with unhide set and ran setup on a couple of CD's and it went well... Wacko? If there is a file that errors are written to I could check that. But the screens kind of went in to a "Vulcan mind meld" so it was hard to tell what was going on. But It didn't crash the machine, I'm using Fedora 2. Is there an installer I should be using

Hello, running unhide ( unhide-20130526-1.el7.x86_64 ) on CentOS 7 i get sometimes messages like: Found HIDDEN PID: 30784 Cmdline: "<none>" Executable: "<no link>" "<none> ... maybe a transitory process" On a second unhide run immediately after it, the process seems to have vanished. CD-ROM not recognized
Howdy Folks, I'm trying to run Cryo's Arthur's Knights under wine. I've managed to install using setup.exe, but when I go to play the game, I get an error message telling me to insert CD #1, even though CD #1 is in the CD-ROM tray and mounted. Any clues as to why I would be getting this message, how to convince the game that the CD is actually in the CD-ROM drive, or how to

booting using RedHat Cd on older CD-rom's
Hello. First I want to say that I am not looking for you to solve this particular problem...only looking for information or links to information. Here is the problem: On several machines when trying to run RedHat's latest 8.0 software, I cannot get the CD-rom to boot on machines that would normally boot. I get an error that contains: "loading spec packet failed" and

Any way to boot a CD if no BIOS support & CD-ROM is not 100% standard?
I originally asked in a hardware/software forum, but, got basically no results. It occured to me that if anyone would know, it would be you people. What I'm wanting to do is set up a rescue disc for a really old laptop. It needs to boot up a linux based CD, hopefully with minimal to no working stuff on the harddrive (I plan to put a floppy image to be written to a disk when needed to do the

How to disable hal's polling of CD-ROM drive in CentOS 5.1?
Given that I hardly ever use the CD-ROM drive, it makes no sense to have hal constantly polling it for new media. How can I disable this polling in CentOS 5.1? Thanks.

Unable to boot from USB CD-ROM on AMD Geode LX800
I'm trying to build a bootable CD for an Advantech PCM-4153 board (based on an AMD Geode LX800) that will allow to boot from USB CD-ROM drive. I've created an ISO that will load ISOLINUX (3.51) and appears to load the kernel and initrd images, but reboots the system when it tries to run the kernel. When I use either isolinux.bin and isolinux-debug.bin, the last messages I see on screen

I''m new to Xen and I''m trying to scan the source codes. Anyone could please give me an overview of how the CD-ROM access is virtualized in Xen? What are the source files involved in that? OFF TOPIC: Chainloading CD-ROM boot after ISOLINUX + MEMDISK.
Hi, This is off topic for this list, but someone on this list may be able to point me in the right direction. For a couple of years I have been using ISOLINUX + MEMDISK and Smart Boot Manager to chainload a CD-ROM boot after loading a floppy image into RAM with MEMDISK. My problem now is that Smart Boot Manager does not support/detect SATA optical drives used in new hardware. Does anyonw

Help with running childrens cd-rom in Xubuntu
Hello, I'm a newb with wine and not terribly bright with linux. I am trying to get some of the kids' games to work in Xubuntu. I got wine installed, and it seems I got the hot wheels game installed, after finding that I needed to run everything as sudo. Now when I run the program in the windows window I see a low-res video of a cd-rom being inserted into a disk drive, presumably

CD Rom problem with install
Greetings community, OK, I have searched around a bit and cannot figure out how to solve this issue. If someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. I issue "virt-install" to start a new VM install, with /dev/cdrom containing the source files for my Centos installation I want to do. I answer all the questions "virt-install" throws at me, and when it

cd-rom drive for linux
Hi, I have a question about cd-rom for linux system. Although it is not related to samba directly, I believe many people in this group are expert about linux and may give me correct answer. I am going to buy a pc to install linux (the most recent slackware one). My question is: do I need a scsi cd-rom drive to install and run linux on the machine? is the regular one enough? -- if yes, I can
