Crashed Asterisk
I have finally crashed Asterisk for the first time and I'm wondering if
anyone has seen this.
This is a configuration with SIP endpoints and an IAX2 channel to
another Asterisk PBX.
The main PBX dropped a core file after a SEGV (signal 11 ) with the
following trace:

#1 0x41bb0f9c in _fini () from /usr/lib/asterisk/modules/chan_sip.so

Interesting behavior of lm() with small, problematic data sets
I've recently come across the following results reported from the lm() function when applied to a particular type of admittedly difficult data. When working with
small data sets (for instance 3 points) with the same response for different predicting variable, the resulting slope estimate is a reasonable approximation of the expected 0.0, but the p-value of that slope estimate is a surprising

slide show with R
Trying to use R to build an interactive "slide show", to be displayed on a
projector. The purpose of the presentation is to show how one could
construct a simple graph using R. It is meant as a general overview rather
than as detailed instruction.
For example, something like the following sequence of commands. At
lecture time, I want the interpreter to read these commands one at a

I am trying to split a matrix into 2 as efficiently as possible.
It is a character matrix:

2 "2-282" "2-378" "1-90"
3 "2-281" "2-377" "1-89"
I want to make 2 matrices from this, as succinctly and efficiently as

I've tried such

Replacing part of delimited string with R's regex
I have the following list of strings:
name <- c("hsa-miR-555p","hsa-miR-519b-3p","hsa-let-7a")
What I want to do is for each of the above strings
replace the text after second delimiter with "zzz".
Yielding:
hsa-miR-zzz
hsa-miR-zzz
hsa-let-zzz
What's the way to do it?

list.files() find files beginning with a .
Hello,
when I use list.files with recursive = TRUE and all.files = TRUE, R returns
a list of strings/paths.
>From all those strings I want to keep only the ones starting with a .
I tried using grep to achieve that. However, the problem is that because of
the recursive list.files parameter,
for some files beginning with a . there is a path attached. I think it is
not as simple as it looks

DNS question
Dear list,
we use debian stretch with Louis's 4.10.5 packages and bind9_dlz
backend. There are two AD DCs with redundant ISC DHCP servers on them.
The DHCP servers are updating the DNS along the lines of
https://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Configure_DHCP_to_update_DNS_records_with_BIND9
but with nsupdate commands replaced by suitable calls to "samba-tool" (I
had problems getting the

R package: Where to put code to Run Once Only?
Is there a specific place where we can place code to run once only in a
package?
I have code that switches based on Sys.info()[["nodename"]] - but since this
just about never changes, I would like to run it only once when someone
runs:
require( mypackage ) or library( mypackage )
I'm tempted to have some free-floating code in global space (in one of my
package's .R files), but

Iproute2 src mangling problems
Hi,
I''m having an issue with changing the source address of packets
origininating from a specific user using a combination of iptables and
iproute2. We want to change packets originating from a specific
service so that they originate from that service''s IP address, so that
we can move it to a different physical server and have the packets
appear to come from the same

IMQ
Hello
I have a server with a dsl connection on eth1 and local interface eth0.
Because of the NAT i cannot direct traffic to IMQ device in PREROUTING chain
but have to use INPUT and FORWARD. So i use rules.
iptables -t mangle -A INPUT -i eth1 -j IMQ --todev 0
iptables -t mangle -A FORWARD -i eth1 -j IMQ --todev 0
And now the strange thing: FORWARD traffic gets directed nicely to the IMQ,
but

I got all your patches and applied them, and I wanted to say kudos for a

This is the output of upsc that I'm getting right now.

that made my UPS go into a state where it wasn't functioning normally

OT: Setting a CentOS to gateway a private IP address
This is mildly off topic since it has more to do with TCP/IP networking
than with CentOS per se. However, at the risk of ruffling a few feathers
I would like some advice on how to resolve the following routing problem:
Given:
dual homed host running CentOS-5.2 with
eth0 = 2xx.yyy.zzz.23
eth1 = 192.168.219.1
and a Cisco gateway at 2xx.1xx.y7y.1 with the following networks:
