Specific Font with wine
Hi !
I run Wine 20050211 on RedHat 9. I would like run an application which
use 4 specific fonts (.FON under windows).
I read the manual (winehq.org/site/docs/wine-user/config-fonts-main) and
follow the instructions. But it seems not working ...
1. I convert .fon files to .bdf and to .pcf. I moved the .pcf files to
/usr/lib/X11/fonts/misc. I'm not sure here to have correct files because

Bitmap Fonts and wine 1.3?
Hello,
I'm trying to get rpgmaker games to run correctly in wine.
(Well they do, but without sound and the font looks crappy)
So first thing to do for me is to get the fonts readable.
After hours of searching on google I've converted the the rm2000.fon file to a .bdf and a pcf file and managed to install the font for the X Server.
But i couldn't find out how to use it in wine :(

[ANNOUNCE] mkfontscale 1.0.5
This version fixes a long-standing bug in mkfontdir that would cause
both PCF and BDF variants of a font to be included into the fonts.dir
file under some circumstances. It also fixes the handling of
OpenType/CFF fonts with embedded bitmaps, which will no longer be
mistaken for bitmap fonts.

Associating fonts with a program?
I have followed the documents on the net regarding installing fonts in Wine.
I currently have a T_FON.FON font and when I follow the directions about
installing fonts I end up with a filename of Bedrock.pcf. How do I go about
getting Wine to know to use this font when the program is looking for

Using .fon files with wine's native font rendering
Hi,
I need to use a custom .fon bitmap font under Wine,
but the only way I can get it to work (having
converted it to a .pcf according to the docs) is to
use X11 font rendering - ie. removing all the TTFs
from my pseudo-c:\windows\fonts directory.
I've tried things like putting the .fon file (and the
converted .pcf files) into the fonts directory, but
it's not seen by Wine.
Is there a

Maple, MathCad, Greek letters (was: Greek letters)
Hi.
I was having trouble getting Greek letters and mathematical
symbols in maple under wine, and a search turned up a few messages
suggesting others have the same problem. In particular,

[ANNOUNCE] bdftopcf 1.0.5
bdftopcf converts fonts from the BDF format (used in source packages) to
the PCF format (used by the X server).
This minor maintenance release fixes a couple of issues with the usage
messages printed for incorrect options, and updates the configure scripts
to the latest X.Org standards.

[ANNOUNCE] bdftopcf 1.1
This release imports the libXfont 1.x BDF-reading and PCF-writing code,
as this program is the only known user of that code and libXfont 1.x is
otherwise unmaintained. No functional difference should be apparent,
this is just another step towards eliminating the old version of
libXfont from the world.

Converting Win fon-fonts to linux pcf fonts
Hi,
I tried to convert win fon fonts to linux pcf fonts using fnt2bdf as it is
described in the wine documentation.
On some fonts fnt2bdf said rthat there is no charset set information in the
fon file so that the -c option has to be used.
But what charset option should be used for such fonts? fnt2bdf's help does
print out a example where -c winsys is used, but never prints out all

[ANNOUNCE] fonttosfnt 1.1.0
Hot on the heels of the 2018 release, here's another fonttosfnt release to
get your new year going. See, it doesn't always take a decade to run a release
script and throw some tarballs at a server. Sometimes a year and a bit is
sufficient.
fonttosfnt is a commandline tool that wraps bitmap fonts into a truetype
wrapper. This release includes a few code changes that warrant the minor

"X11 font at size 16 could not be loaded"
Hi,
I'm using plot.lda (R1.4.0 on linux) and,
if dimen > 2, I get the error:
Error in text.default(x, y, txt, cex = cex, font = font) :

The traceback indicates that the problem
comes from pairs(). I've tried several
cex and font values, always with the
same error.
The same command works fine with pdf()

In order to solve some problems with an application I went through the

[ANNOUNCE] fstobdf 1.0.6
The fstobdf program reads a font from a font server and prints a BDF
file on the standard output that may be used to recreate the font.
This is useful in testing servers, debugging font metrics, and
reproducing lost BDF files.
This minor maintenance release provides the usual set of accumulated
build configuration improvements, compiler warning fixes, and other
janitorial cleanups.

Wine and fonts (...unknown registry...)
Hello NG,
my Wine ran fine so far. As I installed new fonts yesterday (type1
converted out of MS truetypes) to use them with StarOffice 5.2 Wine only
starts with a lot of fonts failures and exits with failure code 1.
Below is an extract out of the messages. Can anybody help me with that?
I already replaced my ~/.wine directory and let winesetup create a new one
- nothing changed.

I'm newcomer here, sorry for possible offtopic.
Well, I have successfully converted some windows fonts as it
described in 4.8.1. Font of Wine User Guide and obtained

printing font scale issues
I'm using Wine-20010510 to run Quickbooks. Printing seems to work okay, as
long as I use the "default" forms.
When I try to modify the defaults, by changing the fonts on parts of forms,
the printed result is that the font is tiny. For example, 18-pt Helvetica
looks printed out like 4-point Helvetica (or maybe even smaller!)
Is there something in the configuration that I
