Sound quality issue
Hello, Our Asterisk runs with multiple remote sites (12 over an MPLS network), everything works fine except for the last site we have juste installed. When VOIP flows comes/goes from/to this site, there are sound quality issues, persistent, 100% reproducible, on every call. This is not a bandwidth or latency or jitter problem, everything is fine on the network. Our MPLS provider does all check

Phone system layout suggestions
I am thinking about a change to our company's phone "layout" and would like to get comments from people who have done something similar. Currently, we have 3 locations - each with their own Asterisk PBX. The corporate office has a PRI. Each remote location has a SIP provider for 5 channels of SIP going to their own PBX. Interoffice calls use the PSTN. Most inbound calls come to

Asterisk on MPLS VPN
Hi I;ve trixbox installed with 2 NICs. One NIC carries the MPLS-VPN traffic (only a 1 MB link without internet for carrying voice to another site) while the other NIC has a connection with public IP for internet services on that machine. the first NIC (eth0) has IP of 172.16.0.1 and is connected to router with WAN IP: 10.18.6.254 , the second IP is 203.234.82.98 (eth1). i want to have the

Samba/GPFS/GlusterFS
Hello, sorry for this little OT post. In my company, we have 2 distant facilities, with people at each facility working on the same files. The 2 facilities are connected through MPLS with about 10MBytes/s BW. Saving the work files to servers located at one or the other facility has became a pain for the people accessing the files from the remote site. Trying to improve files

Problem with HTB and IPTABLES
Dear All, I’m working with Fedora Core 3, kernel 2.9.1, MPLS-for-Linux-4.193, and having some problems when create a HTB queue. ALL packets goes to the default queue, they don’t care about any mark or ip field I use to enqueue them. : -/ That’s the deal, all packets that incoming the interface eth2 are classified and have theirs TOS field changed following some qos policy at the PREROUTING

No audio on remote SIP calls
Hi everyone. We have an asterisk server in our main office and phones at each remote site. The remote offices are connected via a MPLS which, to my knowledge has no natting going on. The problem I have is that any call from a remote phone to a remote phone (even on the same remote lan) results in no audio. If I make a call from the same LAN the asterisk server is on, to one of these remote

Which SIP transport from France and termination services in the Nederlands
Hi, This question is both technical and business related. I've got a prospective customer in France which belongs to Hotel industry. He has a lot of visitors coming from the Nederlands. I'm studying the opportunity to offer phone services to those visitors. The service I'm thinking about is plain local call termination : hotel guests cost effectively call their relatives in their

Tinc and security
Hello, I just read this document, especially the section about Tinc : http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~pgut001/pubs/linux_vpn.txt It's an old one, but i would like to know the state of the Tinc security level for now. I don't scared about possible security weakness of Tinc because i only use it over our internal operator network (MPLS), but maybe one day will come the need to connect a

QOS Wishes
Hello all, It would be a great feature if QOS could be implemented in Tinc. It's not to do any sort of comparison, but with OpenVPN, the traffic can be shapped. In the way that tinc works as mesh VPN, the great feature would be to fix a shapping value on each nodes, known and respected by each others. (like MPLS does) As an exemple, you've got 3 nodes A,B and C, you want Tinc flows on A

Wan optimizations with linux
Hi, I''m researching for WAN optimizations with linux. My network is composed for MPLS network connecting 200 branches against a central site. I use Linux machines to provide security with IPSEC in the branches and in the central site. Now I''m lookup for techniques for optimization the link. My first ideas was use IPCOMP and proxy to cache traffic of HTTP applications. Somebody

IPQoS
Real networks use either PREC (as it maps 1:1 to 802.1p and MPLS TC) or DSCP. Interactive SSH uses PREC 0x0, which is just best-effort and DSCP 0x4 which has no standard meaning (found network where DSCP 0x4 was dropped, completely, as it didn't hit any defined/allowed QoS class, obviously misconfig, BE class should eat anything not already defined) Should interactive use TOS value which has

how to emulate large IP routing table
Hi all I am conducting the experiments comparing IP router forwarding delay and MPLS LSR forwarding delay, it is obvious in theory MPLS in Core should be faster than IP, but for small netork (only have several core routers), result show it is not, this is why I want emulate a large IP routing table in one core router. can I do it and how ? right now I use static routing table (by using command :

new kernel on Fedora 10 domU
Hi, I installed Fedora 10 as domU on CentOS 5.3. I need new 2.6.25.14 kernel under domU (in order to patch it for MPLS protocol). I followed advice on http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/Kernel.org_Linux_on_Xen, and compiled kernel with XEN options enabled under domU. I got all relevant packages in /boot and /lib/modules, but when I try to boot virtual machine I got this error: Error starting
