Organizing a Pre Astricon road trip
Hi All,
I am cross posting this to the Asterisk Users, Biz, and Dev lists at the
suggestion of David Duffet, so sorry if you see it multiple times.
As this year Astricon is in Orlando, and most of us are tech geeks in on
form or another, we are trying to organize a road trip to see NASA's
Kennedy Space Center.
I have been in touch with their group sales office and was told that there

error in optimization when I include constant term in Klein and Spady (np package)
Dear all,
I am trying to use the np package for the estimation of a model with Klein
and Spady's semiparametric estimator. When though, I include a constant term
( a column with 1s in X) then the following message appear:
Multistart 1 of 3...Error in optim(c(beta, h), fn = optim.fn, gr = NULL,
method = optim.method, :

np package, estimating the standard errors of Klein and Spady's estimator
Dear all,
I would like to estimate the standard errors of Klein and Spady's estimator
for that I am using:
library(np)
N<-100
X<-matrix(c(rnorm(N,1,1), rnorm(N,0,1)), ncol=2)
BETA <-matrix(1,2,1)
Z<-X%*%BETA
L<-rlogis(N,location=0, scale=1)
Y <-as.vector(X%*%BETA+L>=0)*1

I was implementing dirty checking for an application, and I found
something that is a little counterintuitive. Let me start with a
quick quiz:
bob=User.find(1)
alice=User.find(2)
trip=Trip.new
trip.driver=bob
old_driver=trip.driver
trip.driver=alice
In this example, who is old_driver? If you guessed Alice, you''re right.

ISO Eric Kort (rtiff)
I wanted to ask Eric a question or two about the rtiff package, but his
listed email address bounces w/ 550 error. Does anyone know how to
reach him, or whether he's actively maintaining rtiff?
If anyone's interested, my primary desire is for rtiff (or other tool)
to provide me with the raw range of pixel values in a tiff file. rtiff
dumps straight into a pixmap object, so the
