Write performance with 3ware 9550
I have two identical servers. The only difference is that the first
one has Maxtor 250G drives and the second one has Seagate 320G drives.
OS: CentOS-4.4 (fully patched)
CPU: dual Opteron 280
Memory: 16GB
Raid card: 3ware 9550Sx-8LP
Raid volume: 4-disk Raid 5 with NCQ and Write Cache enabled
On the first server I have decent performance. Nothing spectacular,
but good enough. The second one

memory leak in 3.3.1 rebalance?
I started rebalancing my 25x2 distributed-replicate volume two days ago.
Since then, the memory usage of the rebalance processes has been
steadily climbing by 1-2 megabytes per minute. Following
http://gluster.org/community/documentation/index.php/High_Memory_Usage,
I tried "echo 2 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches". This had no effect on the
processes' memory usage. Some of the

CentOS5, kernel update and 3ware driver
I'm using CentOS5 64bit on a system with a 3ware 9650SE card.
I installed the OS using the driver disk files provided by 3ware. It
worked fine with the original CentOS5 kernel.
After doing a "yum update", which also installed an updated kernel, the
system didn't work after a reboot, using the new kernel.
I rebooted the old kernel, moved the 3w-9xxx.ko file from

3ware 9550sx on CentOS 4.3 x64
3ware now provides driver disk for CentOS. A couple of months ago, I
had to add support for the 3ware 9550sx. The driver disk provided for
CentOS 4.1 work perfectly.
I now need to add support for the 3ware 9550sx for CentOS 4.3 x64.
Although the driver disk is available, it doesn't seem to work.
Anaconda just can't find the 3w-9xxx module. This is the same seutp
as CentOS 4.1 (which

3ware 9550SX and CentOS
I'm getting a couple of systems that are arriving with the new 3ware
9550sx controller. Does anyone know when this will be natively
supported by CentOS?
Has anyone built an RPM of the driver/module for this new controller?

3ware 9550SX - Xen-3.0.0
Guys,
I''m about to set up Xen on a dual Opteron server backed with SATA
storage which is driven by a 3ware 9550SX controller.
The problem is that as linux-2.6.12.6 has no support for this type of
card by default, so I need to download & compile the driver the vendor
provides. I did so (for the kernel 2.6.12.6-xen0) and generated an
initrd image which gets loaded properly at bootime,

3Ware 9550SX and latency/system responsiveness
Dear list,
I thought I'd just share my experiences with this 3Ware card, and see
if anyone might have any suggestions.
System: Supermicro H8DA8 with 2 x Opteron 250 2.4GHz and 4GB RAM
installed. 9550SX-8LP hosting 4x Seagate ST3250820SV 250GB in a RAID
1 plus 2 hot spare config. The array is properly initialized, write
cache is on, as is queueing (and supported by the drives). StoreSave

3Ware 9550SX-4LP Performance
I know there are a few 3Ware fans here and I was hoping to find some help. I
just built a new server using a 3Ware 9550SX-4LP with four disks in raid 5.
The array is fully initialized but I'm not getting the write performance I was
hoping for -- only 40 to 45MB/Sec.
3Ware's site advertises 300MB/Sec writes using 8 disks on the PCI Express
version of this card (the 9580 I think.)

Ext3 and 3ware RAID5
I run a decent amount of 3ware hardware, all under centos-4. There seems
to be some sort of fundamental disagreement between ext3 and 3ware's
hardware RAID5 mode that trashes write performance. As a representative
example, one current setup is 2 9550SX-12 boards in hardware RAID5 mode
(256KB stripe size) with a software RAID0 stripe on top (also 256KB
chunks). bonnie++ results look

7.0-Release and 3ware 9550SXU w/BBU - horrible write performance
Hi,
I've got a new server with a 3ware 9550SXU with the
Battery. I am using FreeBSD 7.0-Release (tried both
4BSD and ULE) using AMD64 and the 3ware performance
for writes is just plain horrible. Something is
obviously wrong but I'm not sure what.
I've got a 4 disk RAID 10 array.
According to 3dm2 the cache is on. I even tried
setting The StorSave preference to

2.6.9-42.ELsmp kernel and 3ware 9550 tools
I have the latest kernel with the drivers for my 3ware 9550SX built in.
Where
can I find the tools and monitoring apps for this card? Are there rpms
hiding
somewhere, or do I need to build it from source?

Speaking of 3Ware/RAID/SATA/9550SX...
I just built up a server running CentOS 4.3, and trying to boot from a 3Ware
9550SX-16ML, 16 port card. This system has 9x500GB drives, AMD Opteron, Tyan
K8SD mobo and 1 GB of ram. I downloaded the latest (9.3.0.4) driver from
3Ware, and after a couple of botched attempts, I got CentOS installed. In my
two botched attempts, the problem was X hanging during the formatting of the
drives, so I

Observer and Plugin conflict...
Hi fellas,
I have setup the acts_as_authenticated plugin and activated the
UserObserver to send activation emails.
I also have a homemade security plugin which adds methods to
ActiveRecord::Base like let_read and let_write.
On the server start, those two enter in conflict because the Observer
does something with the User model but it can''t find the let_read and
the let_write
