PAM_ERROR_MSG and PAM_TEXT_INFO from modules
Hi,
I have tested the current snapshot portable release (dated Jan 9
2004).
configuration has:
UsePAM yes
PasswordAuthentication no
ChallengeResponseAuthentication yes
UsePrivilegeSeparation yes
two problems:
first pam_motd does not work anymore.
second, I needed a quick way to disable normal user logins without
disabling admin accounts (members of group wheel). the best option i

PAM_AUTH_ERR messages
Hi,
There seems to be no way for PAM to inform a user why her ssh login
attempt is being denied. Niether PAM_TEXT_INFO or PAM_ERROR_MSG
conversation messages are passed on to the user by sshd unless the login
is successful. This is causing great frustration for us at several sites
where users can't figure out why their logins aren't working.
Would a patch be accepted to display such

Problems with conversation functions PAM + OpenSSH
Hello
sorry, for bothering you with this problem, but I ca't find solutions.
I write small PAM module, and I've got the problem with conversation
function with OpenSSH 3.5p1.
When the message style is PAM_PROMPT_ECHO_ON, or PAM_PROMPT_ECHO_OFF
everything is allright. But when I use PAM_TEXT_INFO, or PAM_ERROR_MSG,
ssh prints nothing on the client side. Does anyone know the reason of

pv_ops kernel and nvidia binary driver
Just wondering what it will take to get the nvidia binary driver
working on a pv_ops kernel.
It makes it difficult to debug without the source to the nvidia
driver, but I think it should be possible to get it to work without
changing the binary driver. If the dom0 kernel had access to all the
resources that a bare metal kernel did, then it should work right?

Opensolaris domU unable to get dhcp lease
I''m running a ubuntu 9.04 64 bit dom0 with kernel 2.6.29.6 and xen
3.4.0. My eth0 is bridged to br0 and to my guest VMs. The dom0 is
running a dhcp server on br0 which is able to provide leases to
physical machines on eth0, and also to a windows xp domU which is
bridged to br0. However my open solaris 2009.6 domU is unable to
obtain a dhcp lease.
On the opensolaris side I can see this:

[PATCH] kbdintctxt->nreq test
If the info_response code is going to test that the # of responses is < 100,
then the info_request code should check that < 100 prompts are sent. It
would be rude to send 101 prompts and then fail when the responses come
back.
I actually think the test should be removed altogether, the limit seems
quite arbitrary, but here is a patch to not send > 100 prompts. With
this patch, the test

2.6.30.1 dom0 Xen patches
I''ve been trying for several days to get a xen dom0 booting as
described on Boris Derzhavets blog.
I have been able to boot Jeremy Fitzhardinge''s pv_ops kernel under
xen, but my X server wouldn''t start so I''ve been trying to get Andrew
Lyon''s rebased opensuse patches to work.
I have asked for help in the freenode ##xen channel but they

sshd fails to close open file descriptors when forking
I don't like to be the bearer of bad news, but...
In light of the big "ssh hangs on logout" thread (wherein the true
culprit was identified as being programs that don't close inherited
file descriptors), I find it somewhat ironic that one of those "broken
daemon" programs that doesn't close its open fds is sshd. :(

treat output of sshrc as environment assignment lines?
Currently, ~/.ssh/environment can set static environment variables,
and ~/.ssh/rc can run initialization routines. But there is no way
for sshrc to propagate changes to the environment to the user's shell
or command.
There is, however, a possible way to do this. If the
PermitUserEnvironment option is set, sshd could treat the stdout of
sshrc as additional assignment lines of the form

PAM sessions and conversation functions
In OpenSSH 3.6.1p2, pam_open_session() ran with a conversation function,
do_pam_conversation(), that fed text to the client. In OpenSSH 3.7.1p2,
this is no longer the case: session modules run with a conversation
function that just returns PAM_CONV_ERR. This means that simple session
modules whose job involves printing text on the user's terminal no
longer work: pam_lastlog, pam_mail, and

opensolaris xnf0 freezing with nfs traffic
I''ve set up an opensolaris domU as a NFS server, of which my ubuntu
dom0 is a client. However the IP layer somehow keeps failing, causing
any application on the dom0 to freeze. If I switch to the console of
the opensolaris domU and issue a ping to the dom0, this also fails.
After a while (not sure how long), the network resumes operation.
I''ve tried ping flooding the solaris

3.0.25: non-Kerberos authentication fails when security=ads?
I have several servers running Samba, all using security = ads mode.
After updating one of the servers to 3.0.25, non-Kerberos login
attempts now fail, although Kerberos logins work just fine. E.g.:
$ smbclient -k -L //my-server
OS=[Unix] Server=[Samba 3.0.25-0.0]

[PATCH]: Call pam_chauthtok from keyboard-interactive.
Hi All.
This patch calls pam_chauthtok() to change an expired password via PAM
during keyboard-interactive authentication (SSHv2 only). It is tested on
Redhat 8 and Solaris 8.
In theory, it should have simply been a matter of calling pam_chauthtok
with the PAM_CHANGE_EXPIRED_AUTHTOK flag, it'd only change the password is
if it's expired, right? From the Solaris pam_chauthtok man page:

CVS oddness on Solaris.
Ok.. While helping someone else out with a Solaris 6 issue.. I'm noticing
something is broken on Solaris 7.. I've not verified it on Linux.. That is
my next step. But this is what I'm seeing.
I installed the latest CVS snapshot (actually from the Developer's tree
but no changes have been made since 21th), compiled, and installed.. and
now:

[fdo] Pipe Driver Overview video from the Gallium3D Online Developers Workshop
Hi there
I'm glad I found this page on the wiki
http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/gallium/GAOnlineWorkshop which
has videos explaining what Gallium3D is, and the various pieces that it
consists of. I've watched most of the videos with great interest, and I
would also like to learn about the Pipe Driver. Unfortunately the link
to the video sends me to a page where it isn't
