tun with darwin/macos x
hi,
the following patch adds ssh tun support for Darwin/MacOS X (layer 2+3).
I tested it with Darwin 8.0.1 x86 and MacOS X 10.4 Tiger PPC, I would
like to see any tests from MacOS X users.
It requires an external tun/tap driver, see below.

tunnel device name acquisition?
Numerous how-tos all over the Internet show how one would set up
a tunnel using ssh, e.g.:
ssh -f -o Tunnel=ethernet <server_ip> true
I was wondering if there's a way to subsequently acquire the names
of the local and remote tun/tap interfaces (e.g., using the default
"-w any:any") for subsequent automatic tunnel configuration, e.g.:
ip link set $TapDev up
ip link set

libedit not found on SUse 11.1
Included below is a diff between the output from configure on a 64 bit
SUse 11.1 (doesn't find libedit) and a 64 bit Suse 10.3 (does find
libedit) for otherwise identical setups.
1. How can I get the output set up to look at conftest.c?
2. I added a set -x to configure above LIBEDIT_MSG=no
3. ./configure --with-ldflags="-L/usr/lib64" --with-cflags="-ggdb3

I have some problem with traffic shaping on debian testing. I actually posted
a full config on the list a while ago but didn''t get any answers.
The problem is that traffic doesn''t get into the user classes (~150) when I
associate a class with a qdisc. I tried sfq, fifo but none works. If I dont''t
associate a qdisc with a class classification occurs well.

What/why this event happens: Can't write to Linux tun/tap device (tun mode) /dev/net/tun: Input/output error
Hi, Guus
Thanks a lot for your suggestion, actually I did something else as below.
But one question here is if I don’t add "/sbin/ifconfig myvpn 10.0.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0”, it seems the crontab wouldn’t trigger tinc-up, and then the ip addr of myvpn wouldn’t be configured, then it will prompt the error of "Can't write to Linux tun/tap device (tun mode) /dev/net/tun:

Hi, All
Due to some routing rotation purpose, I use crontab to add below info:
0 * * * * echo Subnet = 54.169.128.0/17 >> /etc/tinc/myvpn/hosts/aws_sgp
0 * * * * echo Subnet = 54.169.0.0/17 >> /etc/tinc/myvpn/hosts/aws_sgp
1 * * * * /usr/sbin/tincd -n myvpn -k
1 * * * * /usr/sbin/tincd -n myvpn --debug=3

[PATCH 1/3] tun: Interface to query tun/tap features.
The problem with introducing checksum offload and gso to tun is they
need to set dev->features to enable GSO and/or checksumming, which is
supposed to be done before register_netdevice(), ie. as part of
TUNSETIFF.
Unfortunately, TUNSETIFF has always just ignored flags it doesn't
understand, so there's no good way of detecting whether the kernel
supports new IFF_ flags.

Good one. Thanks.

glm: family=exponential() or family=Gamma(alpha=1)?
In glm, is there a way to specify the family
to be exponential, or Gamma but with alpha=1?
This is required by Dobson Exercise 4.3d, page 48.
But without specifying alpha=1, the asnwer is the same
as in the book.
If reply to the list, please cc me a copy.
Thanks.
