openssh reading only SOME ssh1 hostkeys from ssh.com ssh
Hey folks, I've asked this on the security focus mailing list, but no one seems to know... I'm in the process of moving my company from old crufty ssh.com ssh1 to openssh. On most of our hosts, we've created rsa and dsa keys but managed to KEEP the old rsa1 key... However, on a few hosts, openssh has been unable to read the old rsa1 key and has claimed: debug1: Unsupported

PATCH: Round 2: RH initscripts backward compatibility
I've cleaned up Pekka Savola's newly revised sshd.init and additional sshd-functions and modified them to work they way i've been arguing they should work. Compatibility functions are defined in ./contrib/redhat/sshd-functions, which should get installed no matter what release of Red Hat Linux OpenSSH is getting built for, to be consistent across releases. [PATCH] Skip RSA1 host key when using hostbased auth
Hello, The following patch avoids a warnign message when using hostbased authentication as root and protocol v1 support has been disabled. The case for non-root users has already been addressed, but root follows a different code path. -- Iain Morgan diff --git a/ssh.c b/ssh.c index cceb36e..e32aa0a 100644 --- a/ssh.c +++ b/ssh.c @@ -1242,8 +1242,10 @@ main(int ac, char **av)

Public Key Authentication Bug
Greetings all. I usually don't get involved in the mailing lists unless it is of a major importance. Here is a new problem that came up with the 3.3.p1 version, which I already reported to the Mandrake Developers on their RPM build. Basically, it boils down to this. In the Priv Seperation Mode or not, the public Key Authentication is throughly broken on all 3 versions of Keys,

Question about adding another parameter for OpenSSH
Hello, I need to allow for some people to execute ssh with one shared private key for remote executing command on various machines. However, it is not possible to set group permissions for private keys and it is possible to have just one private key file for one user. Please, is it possible to add patches into openssh development tree like these, so that standard behavior of ssh is not changed,

openssh stack corruption in arc4random_stir () on OS X
Howdy. I'm trying to get OpenSSH to work on Mac OS X which is basically BSD unix. I'm getting segfaults connecting to SSH1 servers (I have no SSH2 servers to test against so I'm not sure if it's common). I've followed the instructions on compiling at http://www.stepwise.com/Articles/Workbench/2001-03-21.01.html which essentially amount to ./configure

displaying identity key comment string in passphrase prompt
A Feature Request for OpenSSH 3.x: In version 2.x, when prompting for the passphrase ssh would print a prompt including the comment string from an RSA key, like: Enter passphrase for RSA key 'Your Dog's Name': The comment string was a useful way to remind the user what the passphrase was (i didn't use hints quite this easy :-). In Openssh 3.0, ssh prompts using the filename:

FYI: SSH1 now disabled at compile-time by default
No, I just think 15 years or so is more than enough time to have addressed the issue. Rhosts Auth Issues with OpenSSH 2.9p1 on Solaris 2.7
I've installed OpenSSH 2.9p1 on Solaris 2.7 and I am trying to get rhost authentication working. Something appears to be wrong with the client side as I can do rhost auth with a ssh1.2.27 client. Any help would be appreciated. /opt/openssh-2.9p1/etc/ssh_config is: ForwardX11 yes RhostsAuthentication yes /opt/openssh-2.9p1/etc/sshd_config is: Port 22 IgnoreRhosts no StrictModes yes

OpenSSH bug: server debug output sent to client
Hello SSH developers, When using the sshd '-d' switch, then the following problem occurs when a connecting client uses the ssh1 protocol: part of the server's debug output is not printed to (the server's) stderr, but delivered to the client (to the client's stderr). Verified with the FreeBSD version of sshd, and with sshd-3.7.1p2 --snip--server: # /usr/sbin/sshd -ddd debug1:
