[PATCH] cleanup of global variables server/client_version_string in sshconnect.c
In sshconnect.c there are two global variables for server_version_string
client_version_string.
These are used just in a few functions and can easily be passed as
parameters.
Also, there is a strange construct, where their memory is allocated to
the global pointers, then copies of these pointers are assigned to the
kex structure. The kex_free finally frees them via cleanup of the kex

sshd gets stuck: select() in packet_read_seqnr waits indefinitely
Dear OpenSSH Portable sshd developers,
I'm having a problem where sshd login sessions are occasionally
(as often as once a day) getting stuck indefinitely. I enabled debug
messages and got a backtrace of a stuck sshd, and I think I've found
the bug. I wanted to run it by the list once before filing.
sshd version:
OpenSSH_4.2p1 FreeBSD-20050903, OpenSSL 0.9.7e-p1 25 Oct 2004

Memory Forensics of OpenSSH
Hello List,
One of my project needs memory forensics of OpenSSH. Here is a brief description of the problem:
I have a raw memory dump, and all of the kernel data structures (e.g., task_struct, mm_struct) have been figured out. Now, I want to retrieve the data structures (e.g., struct session_state) of an SSH process instance. Finding a session key (active_state->newkeys) could be an example.

Trying to do windows encoding dll
Hi everybody, me again.
I'm trying to write my own VFW-like dll... It doesn't need to do much.
1.) compress a single frame and give it back to the host application
2.) host applications sends the frame
3.) client application receives frame
4.) client application tells the dll to decompress the data
So if I try to do this, something is going wrong...
Perhaps someone could have a look at my

ssh - Connection closed by UNKNOWN
Hi,
ssh clients shows "closed by UNKNOWN" message when a socket is closed by a
remote side while ssh is waiting for user's password:
$ ssh user at localhost
user at localhost's password:
Connection closed by UNKNOWN
When the packet_read_seqnr() calls get_remote_ipaddr(), a connection's
socket is already closed and there's not been any other call of this function

Sorry, pthreads is a non-starter.

[PATCH] Added option 'RetryDelay'
Being rather aggrevated when testing at the enforced 1 second
delay between each connection attempt and the useless 1 second delay
done after all connection attempts have failed I wrote a patch to make
the number of seconds delayed between each connection attempt
configurable.

ProxyCommand that returns a socket
Hello,
My usage of ProxyCommand just calls the nc utility with various
parameters. That in turn after the initial setup just copies copies
the data from the network socket to stdin/stdout. This useless coping
can be avoided if ssh has an option to receive the socket from the
proxy command. I suppose it can improve network error reporting as ssh
would talk directly to the network socket rather

ssh-keyscan continuity patch --
I apologize, this patch should have been sent awhile ago. Between a lot
of things that needed to be completed at work as a sysadmin for the
Research Computing group at Purdue University and retiring from work
after 38 years at the end of May (2012), I basically ignored it. This
patch is from a clone of my workstation that I just activated at home.
The patch was primarily written to fix the

What included pthread.h? That's explicitly not supported by sshd:

Feature request: FQDN Host match
Hello!
I'm hoping that Gmail won't HTML format this mail so that I'll get flamed :)
Anyway, my question relates to ssh_config. The problem I find is that
the Host pattern is only applied to the argument given on the command
line, as outlined in the man page:
"The host is the hostname argument given on the command line (i.e. the
name is not converted to a canonicalized host name

Configuration file TCPKeepAlive option does not work reliably
Hi!
There are configuration knobs (TCPKeepAlive) to enable/disable the use of TCP keepalives both in the ssh client and server. Unfortunately some UNIX systems default to SO_KEEPALIVE=on and some to =off. This may even be settable on a per host basis (OpenBSD default net.inet.tcp.always_keepalive=1 ???).
For the TCPKeepAlive configuration knob I would like to propose changes along the lines

OpenSSH tmp cleanup
Hi,
I noticed that Markus has fixed the temporary file cleanup problems in
OpenSSH cvs. What files need patching for this ? I only noticed
changes in: session.c, channels.h and channels.c.

Attempts to connect to Axway SFTP server result in publickey auth loopin
We are attempting to use openssh sftp to connect to a server that is
running some version of the Axway SFTP server. After a publickey auth
completes, the server resends publickey as a valid auth. This results in
a loop as openssh sftp resubmits the publickey information. This seems
similar to a discussion in 2014 that terminated with the thought that it
might be nice if the client tracked
