socksify
Hi, I'm currently trying to setup a SIP connection to an external party true a socks server with socksify. Currently i do see the connection , and get a forbidden (that could be correct since i'm not authorised yet), but after that , it doesn't want to disconnect anymore. Also , internal calls (SIP to SIP) don't work anymore. Does anyone have an example (socks.conf) for this?

cumsum method in Math group
When running a = runif(10) class(a) = "foo" Math.foo = function(x, ...) { NextMethod(.Generic) } signif(a, 3) cumsum(a) I don't understand why cumsum strips the class, but signif does not. Both claim in the documentation that "These are generic functions: methods can be defined for them individually or via the ?Math? group generic." -- Edzer Pebesma Institute for

Wine & Socks
For what I can see there is no socks support built in in wine and also if u try to force socks tunneling through tsocks the windows program are not "socksifed". You can run freecap inside wine and then run through freecap the socksified program and this way it works, but I think it will be a nice to have feature to be able to run through socks. I've already implemented socks

Transparent socks proxy
Hello, I'm running Wine 0.9.10 on a Fedora Core 5 at work. I'd like to use the Socks5 proxy we've got with application run under Wine. The application I'm using in Wine works fine using direct connection to the internet but this application has no settings I can change to inform it of the socks proxy. So I'm using Sockscap32 2.38 from www.permeo.com . It works fine under

tsocks or equivalent for CentOS 7
Does such exist? I looked for dante and couldn't find that. I found and tried using a version from CentOS 6 but it didn't work. If anyone can point me to an rpm (or set of same) I would most certainly appreciate it. Thanks. socksifying under wine: my test results
A longer time ago, I already asked about the latest socksifiable version of wine, and I see that this topic has been dealt with recently without giving the answer. Well, I decided on downloading a whole bunch of different versions and - for those interested - would like to tell you about my experience. ***The latest version which can still be used for socksifying internet applications appears to

ssh-keyscan not using ProxyCommand?
I have a network without a network connection to other networks. But a socks server is dual homed between it and other networks. I can use socks to ssh to other networks. I use ProxyCommand with the socks aware connect.c program to connect out. All works great. I discovered while trying to use the ssh-keyscan program that it does not use the ProxyCommand configuration. At least in my testing

Struggle with Postfix/Dovecot-auth and SASL
Hi List, I just updated an old sendmail installation to a modern postfix/dovecot system with mysql backend. Everything works fine but SMTP-AUTH fails with some clients. The problem is, that with PLAIN (old) clients send the base64 coded form: USERNAME\0USERNAME\0PASSWORD which, as i understand dovecot interprets as MASTERUSER\0USERNAME\PASSWORD. New clients send \0USERNAME\0PASSWORD which works

MacOS parallel::makeCluster fails
Hi all, The call parallel::makeCluster(1L) hangs infinitely on my MacOS machine which seems to be already reported by some people (e.g., https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-devel/2018-February/075565.html). However, the solutions posted on SO, GH or R-devel do not work in my case. So far, I unsuccessfully tested ? 1. Couple of reboots 2. Adding 192.0.0.1 to /etc/hosts 3. Using R.app

[PATCH] SSE2/SSSE3 optimized version of get_checksum1() for x86-64
Well, don't get too excited, get_checksum1() (the function optimized here) is not the great performance limiter in this case, it's get_checksum2() and sum_update(), which will be using MD5. You can force using MD4, but on the slower CPU's I've tested in practice that is slower rather than faster, contrary to what would be expected. While this patch will improve things a little, to

scp should not report 100% until the last byte is transferred
Hello, just my opinion, but yesterday I run into a case, where after 7 hours of transferring a file (a little bit greater than 1 GB) the scp reported 100% and after that exited with an error (AIX 7.1): $ tsocks scp foo user at host:/tmp ... 100% 1101MB 44.2KB/s 448.0KB/s 7:05:38 scp: /tmp/foo: File too large Probably it should not be rounded up to 100% ? -- MfG/Sincerely Toralf F?rster

[PATCH] SSE2/SSSE3 optimized version of get_checksum1() for x86-64
I think you're missing a point here. Two different checksum algorithms are used in concert, the Adler-based one and the MD5 one. I SSE-optimized the Adler-based one. The Adler-based hash is used to _find_ blocks that might have shifted, while the MD5 hash is a strong cryptographic hash used to _verify_ blocks and files. You wouldn't want to replace the MD5 hash with the Adler-based hash,

socks proxy support
is openssh going to ever contain socks4/5 proxy support (http://www.socks.nec.com/) the same way ssh (nonfree version) does? Without this support, openssh is completely unusable behind a firewall. Hayden A. James

[PATCH] SSE2/SSSE3 optimized version of get_checksum1() for x86-64
This drop-in patch increases the performance of the get_checksum1() function on x86-64. On the target slow CPU performance of the function increased by nearly 50% in the x86-64 default SSE2 mode, and by nearly 100% if the compiler was told to enable SSSE3 support. The increase was over 200% on the fastest CPU tested in SSSE3 mode. Transfer time improvement with large files existing on both ends
