OT? Alt-tab flashes differently between work and home
This may be off topic, but I'm not sure where to go - been to Gnome help and google - nada (wrong search?). I have CentOS 5 on both my work and home machines, with Gnome 2.16.0 (default, straight out of the box, so to speak). At work I have two 17" FP monitors on an ATI FireGL V3400, at home I have one 19" CRT on an nVidia GeForce7100gs. When I use alt-tab to switch windows at

disable control alt delete in gnome
On Centos 6 - how do you disable the control-alt-delete function in GNOME? Editing /etc/init/control-alt-delete.conf works for console mode but not for GNOME. Thanks, Jerry

Switching screen resolution on the fly
Is there any way other than CTL ALT + and CTL ALT - to set and or change the resolution of the X server when I want to. Is there a way to so take me to "1920x1080" mode and then later take me to "1366x768" mode. With xvidtune I see the -next and -prev options but I was hoping for jumping to specific modes. I so realize I can also edit out unwanted modes in the xorg.conf but

Loosing mouse pointer on centos 4.1
I have a dell inspiron 8200 laptop . Install went fine. After booting and using my laptop for a while my mouse pointer just disappears. Any ideas? Any way to restart my mouse pointer? I tried doing CTL-ALT+F1 and ALT_F7 thinking that would reinitialize the mouse but no. Only thing that works is reboot. THanks, Jerry

dirty screen
Is there a command that marks the screen as "dirty" and hopefully redraws it? If I do a control ALT F1 and the F7 this in effect redraws the screen. I am getting video artifacts that I think is in the nvidia driver. the switching console works - I was just hoping there is a more convenient way. some command or something. Thanks, Jerry

DRY question - image_tag :alt and :title the same
Hello, I have the following: image_tag(''show.png'', :alt => ''show article'', :title => ''show article'', :border => 0) Is it possible that I don´t need to have "=> ''show article''" twice in this row? e.g. something similar to this pseudo code: (:alt, :title) => ''show article''.

BUG/Unimplemented Feature: Alt-Tab between Linux & win apps!
Hello I'd like to report a bug/unimplemented feature. That is Alt-Tab between windows programs running in WINE (eg Dev-C++) and linux programs (eg Adobe Reader 8). The two programs I specifically mentioned to give you more info! Alt-Tabbing from Adobe Reader to Dev-C++ 'prints to the screen' a very small amount of the top bit of the window. Compaq V2000 laptop no USB recognized
To continue here with problems on this compaq v2000 laptop, I put kernel source on a USB disk and plugged it into the v2000. NOTHING IS recognized. I tried to manually mount the disk and nothing either... I thought USB was well established.... I thought trying to recompile the kernel for realtek support might get my networking going... I am stuck??? Jerry -------------- next part

If I play games in Windows, I can Alt-Tab out of the game. In Wine, I can't do this. I want to be able to Alt-Tab instead of exiting the game. This is practical on, for example, LAN. Stalker72
