High CPU load
Hello,
I'm using dovecot-1.0.b9 on a FreeBSD 6.1 system. Usually we have 6
clients connected to dovecot through IMAPs. These clients are
Thunderbird 1.5 programs. After some hours, one or two processed go up
to 100% WCPU. As an example, this is what I see when I run 'top':

help with vectorizing a function
Dear r-helpers,
I am developing a smoothing function that performs a casewise deletion of all
the non-informative observations in a bivariate dataset following the Poisson -
D'Avril algorythm.
But I am now facing two problems:
1)Being based on loops, the function takes a lot of time before having done its
work and even if I tried I was not able to vectorize it.
2) I cannot control the

[OT] My appreciation for Dovecot
Hi guys!
I recently switched to Dovecot from Courier with qmail+vpopmail backend.
I'm really happy with the switch as all use-cases are more stable and
much much faster than before.
And the build process is much better as with Courier :)
Just wanted to express my appreciation!

An Appreciation of Leo Breiman (1928-2005)
We are organizing three projects to honor Leo Breiman this year. First,
Salford Systems' Data Mining Conference will open with a special session
devoted to his scientific contributions. Second, we would like to
construct Leo's scientific "family tree," identifying Leo's students,
collaborators, and others whose work has been influenced in an important
way by Leo's

backward step?
Running my jigsaw program, BigJig, under Wine-0.9.17, the screen looks like
it did under early versions (0.9.12 and before), and all the jigsaw
selection thumbnails have gone. This has been the case since version 0.9.15.
I recall that I fixed the layout by installing fonts - something about the
size of the fonts set the size of the buttons. I am running Sidenet, which
links to the Linux fonts.

WINS.DAT getting wrong address automatically?
Hi,
I've got a Samba domain running across two networks. One of the Samba servers
has a HiPPI NIC on it, used only for point-to-point connections, and
unreachable from everywhere on both networks.
The problem is that for some reason, nmbd is registering the HiPPI NIC's
address instead of the Ethernet (correct) address for the machine.
Anyone ever seen something like this before? I'm

Running Under Windows
Hello,
I write a commercial marine navigation and tidal current prediction
application for Windows 3.1 (compiled with Borland c++ 3.1). I am
considering releasing this or a variant of this under something like
Linux. My goal is to continue to develop bells and whistles but to share
the load with others. No particular commercial goals.
In order to get recreational sailboat racers to use it I

We are sorry to announce that the 2020 EuroLLVM Developers’ Meeting is

[LLVMdev] [cfe-dev] RFC: Upcoming Build System Changes
I wouldn't say that. I know quite a few systems here around that even try to
avoid python where possible. but cmake however, as a build system, is
welcomed by all of us (working as a sysop in a unix environment).
I'd also (as a non-llvm-dev but llvm-userdev) vote for NOT reinventing the
wheel but to use the tool the fits you the best, personally that's even
cmake, too. it has a well

[offtopic] JavaScript and ServiceWorkers in FireFox
This is a bit off-topic but the question exists due to the FireFox in
CentOS 7.
Few websites I have visited (e.g. LiveScience.com) the browser asks me
if it can give me notifications.
I always say no because of bad experiencies with notifications on
Android where notification spam is the largest reason why I dislike the
Android operating system (screwed up update system is the second reason,

Hacking at EuroLLVM 2018

You can find the time and location on the website:

Note, we are still accepting the topics and the current list is as follows:
- Improve support for outside of tree users. LLVM and Clang both have a lot of users that don't contribute to the main repository. They are
