[LLVMdev] ELFObjectFile changes, llvm-objdump showing 'wrong' values?
Hi, I would like to examine the implications you mention in more detail. (1) Symbol address According to the ELF standard, in a symbol table entry st_value means: "In relocatable files, st_value holds a section offset for a defined symbol. That is, st_value is an offset from the beginning of the section that st_shndx identifies." (*) Therefore, when queried about a symbol's

[LLVMdev] llvm-objdump related patch
Michael, I have rework the patch according to your suggestion. And I have read binutil/objdump source code and found that it has a logic that if there's no symtab, it will use dynsym, which is missing in llvm-objdump. How to objcopy via LLVM toolchain for armv7e-m ELF32LE?
Hi LLVM developers, As PR35281 mentioned: $ llvm-objcopy -O binary llvm-cortex-m7.elf llvm-cortex-m7.bin llvm-objcopy: 'llvm-cortex-m7.elf': The file was not recognized as a valid object file. if (ELFObjectFile<ELF64LE> *o = dyn_cast<ELFObjectFile<ELF64LE>>(&Binary)) https://github.com/llvm-mirror/llvm/blob/master/tools/llvm-objcopy/llvm-objcopy.cpp#L200

[LLVMdev] ELFObjectFile changes, llvm-objdump showing 'wrong' values?
Hi all, I'm using the MC framework for a project, and while updating to latest trunk (r148672) encountered the following issue: It seems that SymbolRef::getAddress and SymbolRef::getFileOffset have been changed to add the symbol's offset to the offset of the containing section? This has the following implications: To get the /actual/ fileoffset, I now need to do: Symbol.getFileOffset()

What do you find troubling about it? It's simply a way to set all bits in an unsigned variable. -

[LLVMdev] [patch] Support PE/COFF in COFFObjectFile, fix some bugs object file readers
Hi, The attached patch does a few separate things. I can split them up if you like but it's pretty small. - Adds support for sniffing PE/COFF files on win32 (.exe and .dll) which are COFF files that have an MS-DOS compatibility stub on the front of them. - Fixes a bug in the COFFObjectFile's support for the Microsoft COFF extension for long symbol names, wherein it

Modifying objects with MC
Hi, I've been trying to write a tool that reads in an ELF file and modifies one section within that ELF file based on the data contained within another section. Using llvm-objdump as a template of how to read an object file, I've been able to read the latter section that tells me what to edit, but I haven't found a way to edit the former, as everything in the

[LLVMdev] [lld] Relocation reading refactoring
Hi, Thanks for the explanation. If I understand you properly you suggest to move relocation parsing to the class with the following interface. Right? Who will be user of this class? If it is still only ELFFile class, what benefits will we get from separation of this logic? template <class ELFT> class ELFRelocationReader { public: ELFRelocationReader(.....); // Returns all created

[LLVMdev] Implementing the MC-JIT execution path for ELF, with debugging
Hello, I'm part of a team at Intel that works on implementing the MC-JIT execution path for ELF objects with built-in support for debugging the JITted code with GDB. We currently have a working implementation passing all ExecutionEngine tests on MC-JIT for ELF, as well as several proprietary workloads. The current implementation focuses on Linux, although with some trivial modifications it

Modifying objects with MC
A mutable interface to object files would be great to have but doesn't exist in any meaningful sense in LLVM today. David's hack and similar tricks are what's necessary right now. I'd love to fix that as its a question that comes up not infrequently. Sent from my iPhone > On Aug 25, 2015, at 2:44 AM, David Chisnall via llvm-dev <llvm-dev at lists.llvm.org> wrote: >

[LLVMdev] [lld] Relocation reading refactoring
Hi Shankar, I almost implement ELFRelocationReader but still not completely sure that this is a right direction. Suppose somebody wants to override creation of the `ELFReference` object from the `Elf_Rela` or `Elf_Rel` record. Let's consider two implementations A and B: A: ===== 1. Factor out `ELFReference` creation from `createDefinedAtomAndAssignRelocations` into a couple of virtual

RFC: Adding "minidump" support to obj2yaml
Hello all, yesterday I sent an email <http://lists.llvm.org/pipermail/lldb-dev/2019-March/014811.html> to lldb-dev proposing a new tool in lldb for yamlization of minidump files. It's been suggested to me that instead of a new tool it may be better to add support for that format to obj2yaml instead. Hence, this email. :) As I expect most people are unfamiliar with this format, I'm

[PATCH] D15965: Add support for dumping relocations in non-relocatable files
It sounds like what you’re asking is, rather that universally calling RelocationRef::getOffset inside llvm-objdump.cpp I should: * Check if Obj “isRelocatableObject” * If it is, call RelocationRef::getOffset() * If it isn’t o Call RelocationRef::getAddress() o Build an ordered map of all sections and their bounds, check if the relocation lands within a section o

I never saw the suffix written in uppercase before and the code below must be eligble for a price in hilarious coincidences.
