patch for old APC Smart-UPS 600
Hi there,
I am using an old (really old) APC Smart-UPS 600. It worked fine
under apcupsd but when I tried NUT it did not work.
The error I was getting was:
sudo /lib/nut/apcsmart -DDD /dev/ttyS1
Network UPS Tools (version 2.0.4) - APC Smart protocol driver
Driver version 1.99.8, command table version 2.0

Intel D2500cc video problem: no scrolling
Dear colleagues,
in the process of upgrading my home router I'm trying to utilise Intel D2500CC
mini-ITX motherboard[1].
Both stable/9 and head suffer from no scrolling issue: from the beginning of
booting the kernel, all output overrides the last line on the screen, while
others keep the loader phase.
Provided the board has multiple serial ports and the final target (headless

APC UPS: replacement battery always triggers shutdown
Arnaud,
I was finally able to get back to this issue and would recommend adding these items to the FAQ #37 about recalibrating the UPS:
1a. It's important that the UPS be at 100% charge before starting the procedure; starting at lower will not work at all, not just produce inaccurate numbers.
? ? ? [I started the procedure when the UPS was at 91% charge. After that it would never report

bug report: apcsmart (WIN) 940-0024C connect fail, problem with command 'E'
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have several old, yet functioning APC Smart-UPS (Model 600LS, Part AP600I,
Firmware 6JI, no EEPROM, from 1991). They are not supported by Powerchute
any more. I run NUT 2.6.5-4 on Windows XP SP3. I use COM1 port with cable
940-0024C. The connection fails with APC Smart protocol driver 3.0
(2.6.3-3534:3540M), APC command table version 3.0 or higher - it works with

[RFC apcsmart V3 00/18] apcsmart driver updates
Sorry for a bit longer delay than I anticipated, I was stuffed with the work.
This is the next iteration of the patch adding some functionality to apcsmart
driver, and relying on 'ignorelb' recently added.
Follow up from previous thread:
http://www.mail-archive.com/nut-upsdev at lists.alioth.debian.org/msg02331.html
Main differences is that V3 is split into many small patches, so the

Battery runtime not displaying
Hello,
I just upgraded to Network UPS Tools upsstats 2.6.4 on Debian wheezy and noticed that it does not show the battery runtime anymore, the field is simply empty. It used to work before with NUT 2.4.1. Does anyone know what could be wrong?
I am using the apcsmart UPS driver.
Thanks,

Proposed apcsmart driver patch
G'day y'all,
Here's a tiny patch set for drivers/apcsmart.c and drivers/apcsmart.h.
Adds APC SmartUPS 1250 ("8QD" case) + 940-0024C recognition to
apcsmart. (Unpatched apcsmart.c v1.99.8 misidentifies the SmartUPS
1250 as a "dumb" UPS.) For NUT 2.0.5+.
NUT 2.0.5: Patches apply successfully. Builds successfully. Works as
expected under Ubuntu 7.04.

Low End NAS hardware.
Hey,
The recent discussion on NAS/SAN and the Thecus N8800 got me to thinking.
Bit of background. I have an old Dual Athlon MP2800+ that I'm using
for a home web/file server. It runs fine but between the noise of the
various fans and it's location in the living room, I've been asked by
my spouse to find a replacement for it that's smaller & quieter.
Looking at the Thecus, and

How much CPU power needed for asterisk
I'm thinking of placing Asterisk on an itx motherboard in a tiny case.
The ITX motherboards top out around 400Mhz PII (in terms of power
relative to a desktop).
How much CPU would I need for an office of 50 people? How much disk
storage for voicemail + OS? (typical / average)
The system will have no PCI cards (no Digium FSO/FXO cards) - everything
over the LAN connection.
Thanks,

TDM400p susceptible to EMI?
I have a TDM400p with 3 fxs and 1 fxo daughter cards.
It's in a mini-itx case with a 'right-angle' PCI riser card so the TDM400p
is 'sandwiched' between the Atom D525 CPU and the 2.5" hard drive.
I'm getting a bunch of clicks and pops on all ports.
Has anybody had a similar experience? Did you find a solution?

apcsmart question
Before I start any commits.
In patch 2/18 -
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/nut-upsdev/2011-March/005299.html
Two "custom" commands slipped in: ups.firmware.old and
shutdown.return.grace. In 18/18 I tried to rename them and add
remainig commands for "hackish" shutdown methods, to make them easily
callable through e.g. upscmd (for example for testing).
Is it
