Sorry about that - Alioth, the server that hosts the lists, was down due to disk failure:

CentOS 8 w/gnome and NUT
I'm playing with a new CentOS 8 with a cyperpower OR500 (a smaller sibling to the OR700) plugged in via USB.
GNOME sees the UPS... but NUT does not (even if I shut down gnome).

The nut+upsd+upsmon solution is mutually exclusive with nut-hal, but they use the same device-specific code, and it sounds like your device is compatible.

groupadd failure
The munin rpms from EPEL failed to install correctly on a particular
machine. This is why
# /usr/sbin/groupadd -r munin
groupadd: Can't get unique system GID (no more available GIDs)
#
but I don't understand why this happens. Even after checking the man pages
for groupadd and login.defs, I have been unable to determine what the
settings for SYS_GID_MIN/SYS_GID_MAX on RHEL/CentOS are.

SNMP Stuff/MIBs for CyberPower and APC UPSs
Build from source, and done . . . wasting your time looking for a less out of date RPM is pointless. . . RPM, .deb, etc are almost always downrev. . .

OT: Installing munin-node cleanly in spite of RPM
Hi,
This is totally off-topic (it''s an rpm/rpmbuild problem), but I want to
get to a point where I''m installing and configuring munin-node with
puppet. To do that, I need a clean, standardized way of installing
munin-mode on CentOS (RHELish) boxes.
I could install munin-node from source via puppet and probably make
enough edits that all the files end up in reasonable locations

NUT and non-APCC UPSs doing calibration runs
I'm looking to buy some new UPSs and am thinking of parting ways with APC to explore other brands.
Can anyone suggest another brand that handles doing calibration runs (or maybe another brand doesn't need them) that I can automate with NUT?
Thanks,

NUT support for CyberPower PR1500LCDRTXL2Ua
Hey all,
I ended up picking up the module listed in Subject line.
I switched over my config but apparently not all going smoothly.
My config is:
[office]
driver = powerpanel
port = /dev/ttyS0
desc = "Office UPS"
When I test the driver running power-panel as a test, I get:

Cyberpower OR500 on usbhid-ups
Dear Rod,
thanks for writing. Good work! I am no longer an active NUT developer,
so I am forwarding your message to the NUT developers list.
NUT developers: probably this device can be added permanently. Also,
should the MAINTAINERS file perhaps be replaced by a pointer to the
mailing lists? It seems fairly outdated anyway.
Cheers, -- Peter

Patching CyberPower UPS drivers
Hey there,
I got a new UPS (CyberPower PR1500LCDRTXL2Ua) and found the serial drivers don't quite work...
So I decided to jump in and make changes to the driver that would hopefully make it happier.
I have it working (I really only changed powerp-txt.c) but still have a couple questions... Charles said I should mention them here to talk to anyone interest but specifically Arjen (one of

cpu load monitoring
Hi,
I have a server running Centos 5.2 and am implementing a GIS mapserver app. I
have some sample logs from another implementation that give me an idea of
bandwidth requirements but I would like to check the cpu load. I can not be
at the server during the test and am interested in knowing if there is
logging of cpu load available. Anyone have experience with this?
Recommendations?

yum-plugin-security
Hi all,
I have difficulties to understand the output of yum-plugin-security.
I am on a X86_64 machine and when I query for security updates,
yum lists i686 packages, that I don't have installed.

Cleaning Out Stored Configs
Hi,
We''re using thin stored configs heavily to manage things like Munin
and Nagios and we''re currently wondering what to do when nodes go
away, or change considerably.
If we get rid of a server then all it''s stored config is still present
in the database, as well as it''s nagios and munin configurations.
We created a script that iterates through the database

Strange problem with exported ressources
Hi there,
I have a strange problem with the exported ressources in the munin
module I wrote.
See: http://mail.madstop.com/pipermail/puppet-users/2007-June/003179.html
For some reason it stopped working.
On the munin::host I get the error that:
err: Could not retrieve configuration: Exported resource
File[munin_def_XY_4949] cannot override local resource
The munin::host is also a

munin module: manage clients and server''s config
Hello all.
Probably this question has already been posed in the context of another
software, but I am unable to find it.
I would like to implement a module which should manage munin-clients as
well as the munin-server.
Here is what I am thinking about implementing:
- There are two classes: munin::client and munin::server
- munin::clients'' configuration will be managed automatically.

Node specific exported resources
Greetings,
I''m trying to wrap my head around a solution to a problem I''m facing with
an exported resources configuration I have. I''m using the following simple
config to build a munin configuration:
@@file { "/etc/munin/munin.conf.d/${::fqdn}.node":
content => "[All Hosts;${::fqdn}]
address ${ipaddress_eth0}
use_node_name yes\n\n",

introduction with david's munin module question
Hi all,
I am new to puppet and also newcomer in this group.
I heart good things about puppet and I decided to give it a try 2 weeks now.
After reading various documentation, I began using the complete
configuration collection of puppet modules (thanks to David).
But I have a problem with the munin module. It works fine, except that it
seems to not export virtual ressources. Let me give more detail

Recent CVE
Hi Everyone,
According to this CVE:
http://lists.xen.org/archives/html/xen-announce/2012-06/msg00001.html
The patch has been added to xen-3.4-testing.hg. However, when I look here:
http://xenbits.xen.org/hg/xen-3.4-testing.hg/
I don''t see any recent commits.
Am I missing something? I feel it is very important that these patches
make its way into this branch, and tagged as 3.4.5

nsd4 process weirdness?
Hi,
I was playing with the munin plugin in nsd4 beta4, and saw some strange
errors. Directly after starting nsd on linux, I'm seeing:

1638 1 nsd /usr/sbin/nsd -c /etc/nsd/nsd.conf
1641 1638 nsd /usr/sbin/nsd -c /etc/nsd/nsd.conf
