Recover RAID
Hello Everyone,
First time CentOS poster :) I have CentOS 4 installed on the head node of a
Sun Gridengine cluster set up in a RAID. The head node has four hard
drives, and I assume that drives 1 and 2 are in a raid and then drives 3 and
4 are in another raid. I was trying to expand the OS partition on drive 1
because it was full. I took drive 1 out, put it in my Fedora 8 box as a

Debian Sarge Root Raid + LVM + XEN install guide (LONG)
Hello fellow xenophiles and happy new year!
I''ve documented the install procedure for a prototype server here since
I found no similar document
Anywhere on the net. It''s a Sarge-based Domain0 on linux root raid from
scratch, using LVM to store
the data for the domU mail server and its mailstore. I humbly submit my
notes in the hope that they are useful to some weary traveller.

RAID handling in UPS Shutdown script
I have read the NUT document /usr/share/doc/nut-2.2.0/docs/shutdown.txt
And in particular the section called "RAID Warning".
In response to this section I have added the two lnes, but haven't yet
tested it:
mdadm --readonly /dev/md0
mdadm --readonly /dev/md1
into /etc/rc.d/init.d/halt
Thus:

Prefered Method for UPS?
Hello,
since I had delayed the programming of the UPS Device part, now it is
time to continue...
My Device is "24 V DC modular ATX PSU" which replace the standard ATX
Power Supply in PCs and use 15-43 V Input Voltage. The microcontroller
is a TI LM3S5T36 Cortex M3 and I get the "UPS" infos using up to 4 Maxim
DS1780 and some I?C current sensors. The ATX PSU has 4

Same output in NUT as from APC tools?
Hello,
Since I have now nearly all stuff running on my LH7A404 and now I am
working on my DS80C411, I like to know, whether NUT show the APC UPS
stats like the APC tools.
Currently I do not know, HOW NUT triber the USB-Poert to get out the
infos of the UPS. In theory I do send out only arround 5-60 lines of
data which then NUT or any other programs must parse or something

connect points in charts
Hi
is there a automatic way that long distances between points are not
connected. I have something like
plot(x,y,type="o",...)
atx <- seq(as.Date("2009-04-01"),as.Date("2011-04-01"),"month")
axis.Date(1, at=atx,labels=format(atx, "%b\n%Y"), padj=0.5 )
but I do not want lines between points whose distance is greater than
two weeks.
thx

describe function in package Hmisc and function format.dates in chron (PR#13087)
Full_Name: Kem Phillips
Version: 2.7.1 (2008-06-23)
OS: Windows Xp professional
Submission from: (NULL) (98.221.200.108)
The Hmisc function describe fails, giving the error message:
Error in formatDateTime(dd, atx, !timeUsed) :
could not find function "format.dates"
Loading the chron package, where function dates apparently resides, does not
fix the problem. Note

24V DC ATX PSU with limited UPS functionality over USB
Hello Developers and *,
I am working on a "24V DC ATX PSU" for Photopholtaik Systems which can
have input voltages from 18V to 27.7 Volt and is entirely modular,
which mean, you can select the desired module/s (up to 6) from ATX
(96/144/240/300W), P4 (144W), SATA (82/305W) and Device (34/68/136W)
And last not least, I want to build a "PowerWhatch" module which should

help with rebuilding md0 (Raid5)
Sorry, this is going to be a rather long post...Here's the situation; I
have 4 IDE disks from an old snap server which fails to mount the raid
array. We believe there is a controller error on the SNAP so we've put
them in another box running CentOS 5 and can see the disks OK.
hda thru hdd looks like this
Disk /dev/hdd: 185.2 GB, 185283624960 bytes

New Pico-ITX
Powerful enough to run a small asterisk server though not sure if the
drop down in size from a mini-atx or a micro-atx but I'm sure someone
will try.

Finally cracked the mystery of motherboards with Vt-d support
After contacting Asus, MSI and Gigabyte, this is what I got back.
Only motherboards with the QXX chipsets and certified with the Intel
VPro support the Vt-d virtualization technology.
I''m not sure about MSI though, because this is what I got from their
support: "Almost board could support. Please refer to our website,
http://www.msi.com/product/mb/."
The problem is that

xyplot() does not plot legends with "relation=free" scales
Hi all,
I have this problem with lattice that xyplot() won't draw some of my axis labels if the type (i.e. the relation argument) of scales is set as free. For example, in the plot below, I would want it to also show:
1. the labels E1,...E6 below the 10th panel (i.e. 3rd row, 2 col)....just as it is now done below the 12th panel....
2. as well as the labels (2,4,6,8) on the top of panels 1

Problems using nfsmount
Hi everybody
I'm booting a diskless workstation using nfsmount (included in the initial
ramdisk). First time I try to boot the diskless node, it says this error:

nfs: server 192.168.1.33 not responding, timed out
mount: I/O error
short read: 0 < 28"
althought in the /var/log/syslog file of the server appears the message:

New initial patch to implement partial auth with SSH2
HI!
I would like to introduce new patch which adds new config option
"AuthOrder2" to sshd_config.
I would like to say that I only modyfied the patch made by Carson
Gaspar.
If you want to know more about this patch see thread at:
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=openssh-unix-dev&m=98577021011067&w=2
I will appreciate any feedback from you.
This patch is against 3.1p1.

OSSH 2.5.2p2: Why is /usr/local/ put into the include & lib p aths under Solaris?
But the main question hasn't been answered: Why is /usr/local placed before
user-specified paths? Hypothetical example: You want to link against OpenSSL
0.96 for OpenSSH, but /usr/local contains 0.95, which is needed for
something else. (Assume it comes binary only on Solaris for the sake of
argument...)

Shutting down an ATX machine from Power Button
Can someone please tell me how to configure Centos/Linux so it shuts
down properly by pressing the Power button on the ATX cabinet, just as
if someone had given a shutdown -h now command.
With regards.

Announcement: Markdown-0.2 for PmWiki
Announcing a new release of the PmWiki Markdown extension.[1] This
release introduces an improvement in page rendering, examples of
syntax,[2] and better support for Atx (up from none). I have also
established a page to help keep interested parties informed of
changes, to include a discussion group.[3] There are still problems
with loose lists and blockquotes, but this is a 0.2 release. The
