D16945: LLVM overhaul to avoid linking LLVM component libraries with libLLVM
Hans, I have posted a complete patch for solving the linkage issues with LLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB on Phabricator at http://reviews.llvm.org/D16945. The bulk of the fix the simple changes of... LLVM static libs
Hi, the first question is addressed both to llvm-dev and gentoo-dev. The second one is Gentoo specific. Is there any possibility to build LLVM both as static and shared libraries? What I see currently is that our ebuild makes LLVM to build shared libs unconditionally. Is there a possibility (if it is impossible to build both lib types) to at least give to user control on what kind of libs he

I'm using it in CastXML but that could easily be adapted to something different if needed. The larger concern is that that API is the documented way to use LLVM in an application with CMake so

[LLVMdev] RFC: Timeline for deprecating the autoconf build system?
Sorry I’m a little late to this thread. There has been some discussion about using CMake to generate shared libraries. Since I’ve done some patches in this area recently I thought I’d take a minute to explain the current state of things. Historically LLVM’s CMake build system has been able to produce shared libraries for each of the llvm static libraries. My patch (r220490) added the llvm-shlib

Building SVN head with CMake - shared libraries?
Thanks - I'll try this tonight. Assuming it works, should these variables be added to the docs at http://llvm.org/docs/CMake.html ? LLD and LLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB
Hi all, I recently gave LLD a try and it definitely works fine. However one cannot build it together with LLVM_LINK_LLVM_DYLIB: ELF/Driver.cpp and ELF/DriverUtils.cpp pull in llvm/Support/CommandLine.h which defines the command line options so these global variables end up in libLLVM-4.0svn.so via liblldELF. If this shared library is then linked into bin/lld or bin/opt one gets errors because of

It builds fine but I cannot execute the resulting binary which aborts with the mentioned error. However I don't use LLVM_ENABLE_PROJECTS, I don't know if that changes the way libLLVM-4.0svn.so is linked... Building SVN head with CMake - shared libraries?
Now that autoconf is going away soon, I figured I'd try building using CMake. I checked out llvm, cfe and lldb from the SVN server, and followed the basic build instructions. cmake -DBUILD_SHARED_LIBS=OFF -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/tools/llvm/svn_head -DLLVM_TARGETS_TO_BUILD="X86;CppBackend" -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE=Release -DLLVM_ENABLE_ASSERTIONS=ON ../llvm Everything worked well, and in

CMake vs. autotools output differences
Hello, I've spent some time hacking up the Debian packaging to use CMake instead of autotools; it's still a work in progress, but it works. It's a bit of a mess, though, primarily because there are differences in the output of the CMake and autotools builds. On my Ubuntu machine, the dependencies for clang-3.6 look like this: $ ldd /usr/bin/clang-3.6 linux-vdso.so.1 =>
