How do I resolve comm issues
Hi, I'm running into an issue while using FreeBSD 5.4, NUT from ports (2.0.3), serial on /dev/cuaa1, Ellipse 1200 USBS. The ups.conf is : [ellipse] driver=mge-utalk port=/dev/cuaa1 desc="Telecom Closet Ellipse" When I go to start it I get : Network UPS Tools - UPS driver controller 2.0.3 Network UPS Tools - MGE UPS SYSTEMS/U-Talk driver 0.87 (2.0.3)

Way to override battery.charge.low?
Hi, Right now my UPS has "battery.charge.low" set to 30. I think thats pretty silly, I'd like it to be alot lower. Its a read only variable so I can't modify it. I can't find a setting in a conf file to override it. Did I miss it? Thanks, Tuc

Nut issue or MGE issue?
Hi, I took the advice of Daniel O'Connor, found out what variables I had available to me, and put them in the conf. So now it looks like : [ellipse] driver = mge-shut port = /dev/cuaa0 desc = "UPS" lowbatt = 5 offdelay = 120 let the UPS charge up fully, 24 hours. I plugged a single lamp into it, with a 60W bulb. At 3:40p

Various NUT issues/questions
Hi, FINALLY got my UPS working, YEA!!!! But now it brings up even more issues.. (BOOO!!) 1) I'm thinking this is a UPS issue, but when I pull the plug on my UPS, it goes from 100 to 30 in just a short amount of time (Minutes). This causes the machine to shut down. But once it gets to 0, its beeped its little heart out for a few more HOURS providing power to the non-system items perfectly.

MGE Pulsar Extreme - restart problem
Hello, looking for replacements for some older Powerware equipment I found the MGE Pulsar Extreme 1000C and I'm currently testing one with nut-2.0.3 on a self-brewn i386-linux. Upto now everything seems to work fine - except I can't get the power outlets switching on again after mains returns. As this works with Personal Solution-Pac 2 on W2k I thought that there might be a way to

Calibrating the Battery on an MGE Ellipse Premium 1200
My new MGE Ellipse Premium 1200 is now working fine. I've tested pulling the plug and the computer shuts down properly and comes back up when I replug. The only strange behaviour is that when I put the power back on the battery shows as being at 86%. If it was at 86% it should have lasted longer. Is there any calibration step I can do? The only commands the ups seems to support are: $ upscmd

What would cause keyboard-interactive packet connection close
Hi, I've got a remote system that was down and came back up. I'm trying to get into the system, but when I do I get timed out. I forced it to a keyboard interactive to speed things up: ssh -o PreferredAuthentications=keyboard-interactive -vvv tuc at 10.2.0.2 but I get : debug1: waiting for SSH2_MSG_NEWKEYS debug1: newkeys: mode 0 debug1: SSH2_MSG_NEWKEYS received debug1: done:

SOHO Serial Solution needed
Hi, I'm looking to backup a small network (Hughes DW7000 satellite modem, small consumer grade Internet Broadband router+wireless, Soekris NET4801 single board computer + 4 port lan card, Cisco 2900 switch) and want a small form factor (This is sitting on a small shelf) and light. The main thing I'm running into is that it *HAS* to be serial. (The Soekris only has 1 USB port and I

change windows ADS passwords from linux box
I have samba clients authenticating to Windows ADS through winbind. All works perfectly, but I don't how to enable my linux users to change their password (on the windows machine) from the linux box. Although there is a great deal of documentation on the internet, I could not find anything specifically to this... A small howto on what smb.conf/pam/nsswitch/xxx parameters are required to

scp : Problems with pathing
Hi, I'm sure I'll get a few "RTFM", but I hope I'll allay those feelings. I'm getting the "scp: command not found". I've read the FAQ. I've read bugs 42 and 82 in bugzilla. Hopefully, I didn't overlook something. At a minimum, defines.h has : #ifdef USER_PATH # ifdef _PATH_STDPATH # undef _PATH_STDPATH # endif # define _PATH_STDPATH

Small question on the snmp-ups module
Hi, Our research group is planning to buy an MGE Pulsar Evolution 3000 to protect our operational computers against power failures with an SNMP network management card. We would like to connect the UPS only through its network card (and not via USB or serial cable to another computer) and install the NUT software (client+server) on each machine to catch the shutdown SNMP signal from the UPS

Debugging problem AFTER the failure?
Hi, Is there any way to debug a failure of NUT to shut a machine down AFTER the even occurs? (Be it a config issue {Though the standard "It hasn't changed since install" applies}, or a UPS failure, or a program failure). Its showing up (after reboot) as : valhalla# upsc robanton at localhost driver.name: genericups driver.parameter.pollinterval: 2 driver.parameter.port:

Frequent "Connection reset by peer"
Hi, Is there a way to tell why I'm getting frequent "Connection reset by peer" all of a sudden? I'm using a FreeBSD machine, plugged via eithernet to a Linksys router running DD-WRT, to another Linksys 50 feet away running DD-WRT, both of them WDS'd together, plugged via ethernet to another FreeBSD machine. With debug cranked, I see : debug1: channel 0: free:

Step between --dry-run and running?
Hi, Is there either a step, or a recipe for a step between --dry-run and actually running? In a particular instance, --dry-run isn't enough. I want to actually attempt to read the entire file in, but then write it out to nowhere. I'm trying to see if it generates any disk errors that may hurt during an actual transfer. I realize 2 minutes later I could do the read again for the real
