Execute OpenCL
Hi Alexey,
Your reply has been a great help to me,your way of explain the different
types of compilation is very detailed and easy to understand.
Even so, I have a couple of questions.
1) What do yourefer by OpenCL RT?
2) Could you give me some examples of an open-source OpenCL implementation
and update optimization pipeline?
Thank you in advance. Regards

[RfC] A proposal of adding SPIR-V Toolchain in Clang
Hello,
Since 2015 Khronos has switched to the new portable intermediate format SPIR-V, which has replaced the original SPIR. The advantage is that it offers higher portability across different toolchains. There was a talk about it at a Dev Meeting:
http://llvm.org/devmtg/2017-03//2017/02/20/accepted-sessions.html#17
LLVM currently only supports SPIR format for OpenCL in Clang. Several Khronos

[SPIR-V] SPIR-V in LLVM
I note that there was a talk recently at EuroLLVM SPIR-V and LLVM about and so I want to get this message out soon so as to avoid duplicated effort.
I have an up to date backend for SPIR-V on an up to date fork (~2-3 weeks behind) of LLVM, transplanted and “modernised” from Khronos’ SPIRV-LLVM that I plan on integrating into LLVM trunk. While it is usable in it’s current form there are several

+1 to lib/Target/SPIRV/(Reader|Writer)
I really like this idea. I’ve talked with some people on both the LLVM and Khronos sides and I really think adding SPIR-V support to LLVM as an optional program serialization format would be fantastic. I think it would make it even easier for LLVM-based tools to be integrated into GPU authoring and execution pipelines.
I’m really excited to see this moving

LLVM for OpenCL
Dear all,
I'm newbie in LLVM. I would like to know if it is available an optimizer
for OpenCL in LLVM, in the same way as the 'opt' command in LLVM.
Concretely, if it is possible to perform individual
optimizations/transformations over OpenCL code (either at source or bitcode
representation) as it can be done for C code using:
- 'clang' to generate the .bc file(s)
-

Please enumerate them, I have seen none posted so far . The implied “it is what all the the other backends do” w.r.t ISel/MC is at best(worst?) an implementation detail, and I’m still not quite sure why Chandler was so adamant about that. He seemed

Execute OpenCL
Dear all,
After a huge amount of time trying to install LLVM and Clang i could
finally do it, so now im trying to use this tools for generating a
bytecode, then apply it modular optimizations and then generate an
executable to test the result.
First, I only want to compile a project and execute it to see how it works,
specifically this one:

[LLVMdev] [RFC] Upstreaming LLVM/SPIR-V converter
Khronos Group SPIR WG is working on a bi-way converter between LLVM bitcode and SPIR-V (https://www.khronos.org/registry/spir-v/specs/1.0/SPIRV.pdf ) binary and is willing to upstream it to the LLVM project.
The bi-way converter uses a common in-memory representation of SPIR-V. It works by breaking down a module to instructions and construct the translated module in memory then output it.

[LLVMdev] [RFC] Proposal for Adding SPIRV Target
It is just a header file. All source code is under lib/Target/SPIRV since they really belong there. Those who want to use the conversion functionality just need to link with the SPIRV target library.
Any suggestion about a better location for the header file?
Thanks.
