Thanks for pointing that out. I had actually recently stumbled across
that page (and the GitHub repository it references,

llvm pass
Hi list,
I have several questions about LLVM pass.
1) Is building a custom LLVM pass out-of-source not recommended?
The official document only contains instructions about in-source build (http://llvm.org/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html <http://llvm.org/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html>).
2) opt (ver >= 4) with custom pass libraries does not work as before. When I have a simple custom LLVM pass

Get segfault with ModulePass
Hi,
don't know if this is the right list. Please post a better place,
otherwise.
I'm currently writing a LLVM ModulePass and ran into strange segfaults or
endless loops within LLVM. My main question is, if this is a programming error
or API misuse from me or a LLVM bug?
Here is some minimal code, that triggers the bug:

Help with a pass
Hi all,
I was able to create a pass following [1]. Now goal is amend the pass and
try to dump the call graph. I think I have properly amended the source
extending my pass from CallGraphSCCPass but unfortunately every time I run
it, it crashes. I tried with llvm-6 and llvm-7. I notice that if I change
EP_EarlyAsPossible to anything else it does not crash but I don't see the
expected string

How to write a simple MachineFunctionPass
Hello everyone,
I have written simple LLVM passes, but I cannot able to write a
MachineFunctionPass pass.
I am following the steps form the following link but it is not working:
http://www.gabriel.urdhr.fr/2014/09/26/adding-a-llvm-pass/
Please share the sample MachineFunctionPass code or steps to follow to
write MachineFunctionPass.
Thanks,

[LLVMdev] Storing values in global variables
Hello,
I have written a pass that works nicely if I use it with the opt tool,
as proposed by the "Writing an LLVM Pass" tutorial. Now I want to
execute this pass directly when clang is executed. I use the technique
described here:
http://homes.cs.washington.edu/~asampson/blog/clangpass.html. The pass
is loaded and executed, when I run clang with the right command line.
But clang

Problems with registering of ModulePass (with Dependencies)
Hello,
I have created a ModulePass, that now needs LoopInfo information.
The ModulePass registration is taken from [1]. I use clang to directly invoke
it (This is also a hard requirement, because I need the fancy output of clang
warnings/remarks).
The problem is, that the dependency to the LoopInfoWrapperPass does not seem
to work. The error is:

Testing an LLVM pass
Hi all,
I’m currently writing an LLVM function pass and I want to know how can I test it?
Currently, I try to compile some crypto library and check if the test suite are working but I don’t think this is very efficient.
Does anyone has a leads?
Greetings,
Johan

What's LLVM{target}CodeGen vs {target}CodeGen?
Hi all,
*TL;DR:* I have a target TMS9900CodeGen but cmake is looking for LLVMTMS9900
or LLVMTMS9900CodeGen which I don't have, and cmake dies. But the MSP430 target
doesn't have that either, and cmake is happy with it. What am I missing?
*The premise:*
I may be making a huge mistake, but I'm trying to develop an LLVM backend.
I'm writing up some notes while I do so, and I hope

How to write a simple MachineFunctionPass
First you should learn how to write a pass and then a MachineFunctionPass.
>From LLVM website, you can refer to
http://llvm.org/docs/WritingAnLLVMPass.html
And for outside pass, you can refer to
http://adriansampson.net/blog/llvm.html
It's a great article.
And the author put the source code on Github
<https://github.com/sampsyo/llvm-pass-skeleton>.

This patch *seems* to fix the problem (cmake regexps are not thoroughly
documented):

[LLVMdev] Another missed optimization opportunity?
I was suprised to find that some bitcode I'm generating isn't getting
optimized. Here, I'm doing the equivalent of "myarray[5]++" (on an
"extern int *myarray"), repeated three times:
@myarray = external global i32*
define void @update_array() #0 {
%1 = load i32** @myarray, align 8
%2 = getelementptr inbounds i32* %1, i64 5

[LLVMdev] Cmake and pass
Hi,
Is it possible to generate pass (shared object) from Cmake?
I tried to use add_llvm_library() however it produces only static
libs.
Thanks, Mariusz.

Hello world
Hi-
Danny Burkes here from Lingr (http://www.lingr.com). We''re
evaluating bdrb and so far, so good. It''s deployed in staging now
and seems to be working fine. I have a couple of questions that I
couldn''t find references to in the archive, so here it goes-
1. Is there any way to do a "graceful" stop of bdrb? What I mean
is, I want to stop bdrb,
